Booking through email with the property was efficient and I had negotiated a resonable rate for spa pool villa w/free transfers for 2nites. Prompt pick up @airport with a polite driver who provided us minty and refreshing cold towels during the ride.
At reception, we had complimentary welcome drink (strawberry + watermelon...v yummy) whilst waiting for our villa. We checked into our spa pool villa (Gili villa) but as it was the first villa on entrance and facing the road and reception, we requested to change. The staff was very accomodating and upgraded us to the pool villa (Melawati villa - if i got the name right). Both villas were ok but not as new as i expected.
It was however a disppointing night at Melawati villa, both me and my husband didn't sleep well on the extremely soft mattress (was told it was old mattress), and air conditioning was weak thus we were sweating in our sleep. We woke up with sores all over and had to go for a few massages to recover. (The villa has its own massage. It was ok but you could get cheaper outside.)
We told the reception we wanted to check out cos of the bad night we had...and again they were nice enough to waive off the next night stay (should we c/out) and also offered us the option to upgrade to Executive villa (which has a newer mattress). After checking out the Ternate villa, we decided to give another try. Bed was better but air conditioning was still poor. The huge bathtub (for 2) and the rain shower were fantastic. The breakfast and lunch in-villa were ok.
So I would recommend to go for the executive villa if you are used to a well support mattress. Overall the property was quiet and nice. But based on the bad experience on the 1st night, I could only rate it as OK. However the staff and their initiatives is Excellent. Just a note... they have 2 laptops for free usage at the reception but on the 2 times I tried, the connection was down......
