Our first reaction to this resort was unfortunately not great as we had to wait for a porter to find a trolley to take our luggage and they wouldnt allow us to go to the room unescorted. Then when we got to the room it was certainly showing its age - we booked the best room type (below a villa) which was a great size, however there was no sense of luxury about the room and simple things like curtains being too short caused some frustration. By the end of our sixth day however, the room doesn't seem to matter so much because the service has been fantastic (particularly the restaurant staff), the public areas are great, gardens beautiful and the location perfect. It has ended up being a really good choice for a weeks stay.

I regularly stay at this hotel & it is consistently good.Located on the beach & walking distance to a number of other great establishments.Recent improvements I found appealing were the relocated breakfast venue & the addition of some decking along with extra sun beds etc on the beach front.

The hotel ground is really pretty with lots of green, birds, fishes. We can just walk a minute away to the beach.
Food is nice and staff is really helpful.
Also a guy doing wood crafting by the hotel's pool. Really impressive.
Hugh pool by the beach front and one really private is the garden pool.
I like it there and I'm sure when we're return to Bali we will going back to The Royal Beach Seminyak again.

The Royal Beach is right on the beach (it's wrongly located on the trip advisor map) and also on the road leading to Seminyak's main drag, so ideally located. It's one of the older resort hotels, but well maintained, and with huge, mature gardens, that really make it feel like an oasis away from the increasingly traffic riddled streets of SW Bali.
There are two good restaurants, though I only had breakfast there, which I would say is absolutely 'best in class' so well worth getting an inclusive rate. One of the restaurants is right on the beach. There are two big pools, one family oriented and one quiet and secluded in the gardens.
Being older, the public spaces and rooms are also more spacious than some modern places, but look to have been recently refurbished.
If you want a hotel environment (villas are another popular option in Bali, which I have used in the past very successfully) this has a lot to commend it. Though less stylish than its neighbours such as the Oberoi, this is better value.
Good free Internet access throughout the resort, but other incidental charges are, like most big chain hotels (this is Accor) over the top, typically 3 or 4 times what small independent hotels charge.

The main areas of the hotel are pleasant enough -the entrance lobby is large and airy, the well tended greens and ponds, and the inviting swimming pools- but the room although fairly spacious, was quite a disappointment.
Firstly there was a musty smell when we entered the room, I guess it was damp or humidity from the air-conditioning. Second the electronic accessories were faulty a) fridge was hot, I mean the drinks were not even room temperature as they were heated up by the lamp in the fridge, and b) the kettle ignores its auto switch so beware that all the water boils away and it might catch fire! Third, the toilet and shower was very poorly designed, and fourth there was a dearth of power plugs in the room, making hair-drying and phone charging etc rather difficult and inconvenient. (I should also add that our friends had rooms with air-conditioning that didn't work).

To expand on the third point, I thought the toilet facilities very awkward to use. The toilet and shower seemed very makeshift in the way it was renovated. There was barely enough space to sit on the toilet and close the door which is kind of like a stall rather than a room (gap at the top which makes it very convenient for talking to someone else in the room). There was a weird 20cm gap in the wall between the toilet and the shower which allows the water from the shower to spill onto the floor of the toilet. The bath is separated from the room by a set of blinds, so essentially this entire bathroom and toilet is an "open" concept toilet, not segregated by glass nor wall. The laundry basket is massive and is placed rather inconveniently by the side of the shower door and beside the sink. This made opening the shower door rather limited and also impeded access to the sink. There was barely any table top space by the sink, it was like one of those "floating" designs and there is no where to put your hairbrush or moisturizer. The only real useful mirror is the one behind the sink, but you don't really get a full length view of yourself.

I was quite disappointed about the power plug situation, once my partner hooked up a computer there was no other accessible plug around the room. We eventually found one deep inside a dark cupboard where we placed the kettle and hairdryer (have to alternate), when they could have made the access a lot easier from the counter where they have the tea cups and coffee mugs. Very strange. I put on some water to boil in the modern electric kettle but didn't realize that it had all boiled away until my partner decided to have some and almost burned himself touching the plastic handle.

What were the plus points? Well, the safe does work and the water pressure in the shower was reasonable and hot. There are dressing gowns and slippers (important to me). The bed was large and fairly comfortable (although the TV is too low for viewing when you're lying in bed). The impressive Seminyak beach, pools and polite staff were all very pleasant. I would suggest that the owners of the property spend a bit of money hiring a decent interior designer, renovate the rooms to make them match the level of tidyness and impressiveness of the rest of the facility. And if you do renovate, please can you change the interior of the wardrobes to some lighter color, the room is already dark as it is and a black interior makes it impossible to see where I put my things.

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor (Room 150) of the main wing of the hotel which had convenient access t...

Even though we arrived early, we really didnt think they would make us wait the 5 hours to check into our room. YES THEY DID!!!!! we sat around in the heat waiting for our room, we asked a staff member if the hotel was full, his reply was NO,
Location perfect, sunsets perfect, Husk restaurant was nice, we asked if we could take a cup of coffee to the pool area less than 10 yards away we were told NO you have to drink it in the restaurant. strange!!
Staff pretty friendly. breakfast nice, overall food was good, drinks expensive.
At check out time we were asked if we had used the mini bar, we replied yes, one can of coke had been drunk, this showed on our final bill, which had just been finalised, another lady in reception then said 'We have information you have used the mini bar' I said yes ive paid for it about 2 minutes ago and have it on my bill. the receptionist didnt appologise, I walked away annoyed at the lack of communication between the staff.
Overall not a pleasent experience at the start of our 5 day break, and another worse experience right at the end.We travel to Bali from Perth 4 times a year and try alot of the hotels . Give me the Padma, or intercontinental any day. To the management we stayed in room 372 just 2 days ago, We wont stay at your property again... neither will friends who waited for an update about your hotel before booking!!!!!

Room Tip: Higher floors I Guess
