Description: Since opening its doors in August of 2012, Zibiru has garnered a loyal following with its regional Italian cuisine made from fresh ingredients. The restaurant has something for everyone, from food enthusiasts to wine lovers: During the day a gastronomic deli, offering sandwiches with premium Italian products as well as vegan and vegetarian choices. 5 to 7pm is Aperitivo time with wine tasting and a chance to sample complementary bites from the kitchen. Come at night to listen to soul music and jazz, an ideal soundtrack for friends catching up or for couples seeking intimate conversation amid a romantic setting. We offer a feast for all five senses, providing a little refuge from the noise and liveliness of Seminyak. Adorned with authentic details exuding old Bali charm, Zibiru revives the romance of the past with its whitewashed facade, hand-carved wooden interiors and handmade furnishings. We offer three different dining experiences: al fresco in the garden amidst lush tropical flora; under the stars of the rooftop lounge; or in the haven of its non-smoking interior. The menu showcases the best offerings from the field; market-fresh fish arrives daily, bread is homemade on site, and pasta is handcrafted from scratch. Organic heirloom vegetables are harvested from Zibiru's own environmentally friendly farm in the mountains of Bali. Zibiru offers a chance to taste the splendor of Italy's various regions all under one roof. Live jazz every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

“THIS IS GOOD”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

We visited on a quiet Sunday evening. This Italian restaurant (with a misleading name) deserves to be high in the Seminyak rankings. The food is seriously good and the price very reasonable. The ambiente and setting are excellent and would have been better if there had been more customers. The yellowfin tuna tartare was truly outstanding, one of the best appetisers I have had in Bali or anywhere else. And they are trying to keep the wine prices at a fair level, which is unusual in Indonesia. I hope this restaurant is a success.

“A wonderful experience. Great food, superb hosts and venue”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Chef Luigi and his vivacious partner Lisa (he's Italian and she's from New York) are clearly dedicated to making this new restaurant in this highly competitive market an outstanding success. He's knowledgable and thoughtful and she's charming. What a combination. You feel welcome and valued from the moment you arrive and we were sorry to leave.

As someone else said, I'm glad we visited before the word gets out and the rush starts.
Luigi helped guide us through his amazingly varied menu and both of us enjoyed a new gastronomic experience. It's not your spaghetti bolognaise Italian though that's available. But why would you bother if you welcome a gastronomic challenge. And we had three courses for less than $100 for three courses including wine. At home you would expect to pay twice that amount.

We both had linguini with anchovy water. Sounded strange and looked interestingly bland but the taste and texture were a wonderful surprise.

I wish we had more time here so we could confirm that it wasn't just luck that made this such an outstanding meal. There are three eating places, one inside viewing the kitchen, one the lovely tropical garden and one on the rooftop. We chose the latter and enjoyed the fresh air and the stars. And for those who worry about creepy crawlies we didn't see or feel any.

Finally, I must also compliment the staff - unobtrusive, thoughtful and observant. As good as you can get.

Kebun Zibiru is up there with the best anywhere.

“Must have been an off night”
Reviewed October 23, 2013 via mobile

We were staying round the corner from this place and had not read any of the reviews prior to eating there.

Service was excellent and they have decorated it very well. Owner/manager was sat in the corner and if you spoke French or Italian you got a visit.

The food however on the night we eat there was very average. The mixed meat plate was very dry and had better from supermarkets at home. We went for the fish option which came in a lemon sauce. Very disappointing could have been a ready meal. Much better options around, or we should have stuck to pasta or pizza here.

Dear Brit39,

Thank you for visiting Kebun Zibiru and taking the time to review your experience. We would like to inform you that the mixed meat platter you considered dry is cured meat that requires on average about 15-17 months of seasoning; in this specific case, prosciutto could be 2 or 3 years—hence the name "cured meat". This plate of rarities is one of our most popular dishes at Zibiru, as it is hand-delivered directly from Tuscany (Italy) where our executive chef personally picks up his ingredients. We are sorry if your tastebuds recognized supermarket grade flavors as opposed to that of a Tuscan farm.

As for the chef not granting your table attention, please note that he dedicates more time to customers who find the English language more challenging to ensure that they understand the dishes and their dining experience is optimal. We hope that after this clarification, you will reconsider dining at our restaurant even if we don't make pizza.

Should you have further comments, please feel free to contact us at info@zibiru.com.

Best regards,
The Management
