Reviewed June 20, 2013

I just returned from a 6 night stay from The Oberoi with my husband. It was a long awaited trip away without the children, so I wanted everything to be perfect!.
I booked this hotel as my sister in law could not stop raving about it, especially the service ( and the bed!). After umming and arring for a few months, comparing other hotels, reading a million reviews on this website, i finally booked one of the Luxury Lanais. I am so glad I did! Just do it! The place is amazing, all single level, set in amazingly maintained and lush gardens with walk ways everywhere connecting the Lanais. There is nothing else like this in Seminyak, we joked that as soon as walked in off the road, the noise stopped, the temperature dropped a couple of degrees and the air smelled sweeter!
It is all in the detail with this hotel, little touches everywhere, I won't say them all as it will ruin the surprise. It is like everyone says, the service is amazing, all the staff, from the gardeners, to the pool boys to the house keeping are so well trained and genuinely friendly its just a pleasure.
If you are a little undecided, seriously, don't be, you will not be disappointed.
Easily walk either by beach or road to dinner or shopping, the walk to Kuta was about 40 mins one way, just make sure you head out early, sunrise is beautiful and its not so hot.
Probably not the best for children, its so quiet here that if I had brought mine, I would of worried about about ruining the calm and tranquility of everyone else!

We spent 4 nights at the Oberoi and took 2 rooms at $450 per room. One for my daughter and mother and the other for myself and my wife.

The hotel grounds are very well maintained and the initial impression is wow. We had a lovely welcoming from the staff which was very nice. The beach front location is great and the staff eager to please, warm and caring. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are excellent.

The gym is poor and consists of very small room with a few pieces of equipment. The spa is adjoining and its offerings are limited; there is no sauna, steam or Jacuzzi, just a lady offering some beauty treatments in not a very enticing environment.

We found breakfast very average although the setting was beautiful; pastries were amateurish and the quality of the bread was poor (we ordered a cheese platter to the room one afternoon and the bread was not good then either). Coffee is served via a plunger even though we requested espresso coffee. We went next door to Ku De Ta for a good coffee each morning which was nice.

We thought the hotel was very nice however looking back it is lacking in too many ways.

Having said that the Oberoi was lovely, lying around the pool and reading was great, location was great and staff very nice but the hotel is overpriced. Spending close to a $1000 a night for the 4 of us I did expect better.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your comments on Trip Advisor after your recent stay with us at The Oberoi, Bali.

I am delighted to note that most of the service, environment, style, and setting of The Oberoi, Bali have met with your expectations.

I was sorry to read that our gym was too small for you and you found the environment of our spa un-inviting. I was sorry to read that you were not happy with the breakfast offerings and went outside for coffee. We do offer espresso coffee at all of our restaurants and have never received a complaint about the quality of the coffee to date. For the sake of TripAdvisor readers I would like to emphasise that rooms may be booked at The Oberoi, Bali either inclusive of breakfast or at al carte prices.

We appreciate your frank and honest feedback about your experience. Your comments and suggestions will be helpful in reviewing, analysing, and retraining in areas when and if required.

I appreciate your patronage of The Oberoi, bali and would be delighted if we could have the opportunity of welcoming you back one day.

Please do not hesitate to be in contact with us if we can assist with your reservation.

This is one of the best places to experience true rest and relaxation and a taste of Bali. A lovely setting by the beach in mature well-kept grounds which were a delight to stroll through. Comfortable and peaceful and private. The staff were delightful with the most welcoming smiles I have seen anywhere. A true delight and very hard to leave behind. The massage in the Spa was truly memorable and restorating. The range on the menu for breakfast was incredible - spoilt for choice and dinner in the restaurant beautifully presented and tasted better than it looked. Everything for comfort and convenience was provided for you - sometimes even before you were aware of what you needed! For instance, while sitting poolside fresh iced water replaced regularly. The highlight for me each day was at 4pm when Tiffin was served with small delights and freshly cooked sweet local delicacies by the Chef. Although it is not a new resort it is obviously much loved and cherished by the management and staff and which gives this hotel the personal touch, something which is missing in newer places.

Although staying at another hotel, we went to visit the Oberoi in Bali and as expected it truly rose to its reputation of being a profound work of peace! We had cocktails at sunset there and we marveled at being away from the crowd, which was just beside the Oberoi property! Next time in Bali I will want to stay here!

Our 6 night stay at the Oberoi in Bali really was one of the best resort experiences we've ever had. The level of service was exceptionally high and always delivered with a friendly smile. The Oberoi Bali offers a true respite from the busyness of Seminyak, all you hear are the crashing waves. Lots of little extra unexpected touches as well.
Highly recommend.

A great location to walk to beach bars, go to the markets and shops if you fancy or to just laze about by the pool. It does not feel brand new (ie granite surfaces everywhere in new architecture) no this is more traditional, but its classy, well run and absolutely great. The breakfasts are great the staff are great the rooms are appointed. All in all to be highly recommended

The property and grounds of this place are stunning, and such an escape from everything else around Seminyak. The room needs updating, particularly the furniture that is old, tired and uncomfortable. But the beautiful, plush grounds make up for the room. The beach is great, the pool is beautiful with traditional stone style. The traditional style is a great alternative to all the other cramped high rise hotels in the area. Location is convenient to all else in Seminyak. The setting is very green, relaxing and peaceful. Think this is the best section of beach in the south. Loved sitting and watching the ocean and surfers. Breakfast food was a bit spotty and could have been better, but the service was very good and friendly.
