We just returned after a three week trip to Bali and the Gilis. During our trip we organised to have our wedding at The Oberoi, Seminyak. After numerous emails and discussion the day finally arrived and it was fabulous. Desyanti who organised our wedding did a superb job and was patient throughout the organising of and set-up of our ceremony and reception. The food was outstanding and fresh. The staff, from the room service to the gardeners and the ladies in the spa were gentle, unassuming and always smiling.
Of all the places we stayed in Bali and Gili Air, The Oberoi was by far our favourite (though we did of course pay for the experience:). Our upgrade to an ocean view villa was fantastic. The little details in the room and throughout the property, paying special attention to the Balinese culture and sensibilities really made it unique. We are making plans already to stay there again for a wedding anniversary in the future.

Room Tip: Villas are amazing. As is the pool and accompanying service. Very private.

We have visited Bali 5 times in the last 8 years, staying at the Oberoi on each occasion. I cannot imagine staying at another hotel, as we have had such wonderful experiences there.
The hotel now has a new manager, but the facilities, gardens, ambience and above all the service remain the same - excellent!
We like the traditional Balinese feel to the hotel, and the extensive grounds and spread out accommodation which make it feel unlike a 'hotel' in the usual sense. Above all, it is the service and the atmosphere this creates that keep us coming back. ALL of the staff are polite, friendly and helpful - from the gardeners to the management team. The staff greeted us like long lost family when we arrived - incredibly welcoming!
We were on a a shorter, 7 day visit this time, but still long enough to feel completely relaxed an looked after at the Oberoi.
We were particularly impressed that feedback we left on our last visit was acted on - I had complained at getting several mosquito bites in our room last summer, and this time the team had provided a mosquito net, a burner on the patio, a coil in the room, and attention to the matter above and beyond - we returned from dinner one evening to find someone spraying/ fogging outside out room, and a member of staff in our room - checking for mosquitoes!! Needless to say we suffered no bites at all this year...
Breakfast at the frangipani cafe is wonderful, with an ocean view and fantastically varied menu - all for £20/ $30 for the American - 3 courses of breakfast! We ate other meals outside of the hotel this year - lots of restaurants within walking distance or a short taxi at various budgets. Seminyak has become much more developed over the last few years, with a plethora of shops opening and a great deal more traffic. This makes it much less pleasant to eat at some of the local restaurants that face out onto the street now.
We will look forward to our next visit, when it comes.

Just returned after a 7 nights' stay in an "ocean-view villa with private pool". Had a wonderfully relaxing time at the resort, which is kept in traditional Balinese style. The staff are very friendly, obliging and quietly efficient. The heavy 4-poster-bed was very comfortable but a bit cumbersome to climb in and out - despite the foot stools on either side. Breakfast was ok but the pastries all had a kind of stale flavour, not sure what flour they use. (No buffet available.) Apart from that, the food consumed in the hotel was excellent. The overall experience in the resort was entirely positive and we'd be happy to return any time...

The PUBLIC beach below the resort was a bit dirty during low-tide, "Kuta-swill" perhaps, incl. a syringe one day, as well as lots of wrappers and plastic garbage. Within the resort however, everything was very clean and beautifully manicured and maintained.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your kind comments on Trip Advisor about your recent stay at The Oberoi, Bali.

I am delighted to note that you found the location, service, environment, style, and setting of The Oberoi, Bali have met with your expectations. I am pleased to note that the staff were welcoming and unobtrusive. The Oberoi, and the island of Bali in general tend to be popular with families around holidays such as Easter. I am happy to read that Lanai 224 proved to be nicely situated for your enjoyment and privacy.

This was a great spot after a very long flight from the usa.....peaceful, beautiful grounds, really private room off of the pool area (ask for room 224 in the lanais section), welcoming staff that was not too intrusive. Meals were good but pricey (american prices) ...... The beach spot was the best... A wide stretch with great body surfing and board surfing, very private. After four nights more families with children populated the resort making the pool area in particular not as peaceful however the grounds are so spacious and room 224 lanais was so cutoff from everything that this all worked out. I highly recommend this hotel for the beginning of your stay in bali. Avoid kuta and head for this place!

Room Tip: ask for 224 lanais-

I can't really add much to the two previous comments. The hotel's elegance, calm and gentle service can be easily taken for granted. For those of us who have been lucky enough to have spent a lot of time holidaying on the island (nearly 40 years in our case) we know that this level of service takes a lot of work and an active striving for perfection by management and staff alike.
Staff spoken to said they they felt like part of a family and enjoyed working there. We arrived stressed and tired, by the end of the 10 days we were happy and relaxed, our chief goal.
The traditional Balinese style rooms and villas are lovingly cared for and laid out in spacious luxuriant gardens. The current chef is totally dedicated to making sure that the food at every meal is superb, checking with guests that they are happy.
Thank you Oberoi Bali

Room Tip: We liked being at the back of the hotel, closer to the spa. Very quiet.

We've just returned after a 7 night stay at the Oberoi Bali and I must say it is probably the best place we have ever stayed. On arrival we were greeted by wonderful staff and the sound of traditional Balinese music which created a lovely atmosphere. We were promptly shown to our Ocean view lanei, on opening the door it is obvious to see the care and attention taken in the design and furnishing of the rooms and they were also absolutely spotless and had a lovely aroma of Frangipani. All the staff from garden, poolside to evening made the stay at the oberoi even more special as they couldn't do enough for you, even John the general manager made time to come and speak to us in the bar one evening. If your visiting Bali and you want traditional accommodation and great service this is definitely the place to stay.

The only thing we will say about the streets outside of the resorts is "come on Bali clear your rubbish up"

This will not stop us from coming back to the Oberoi next year! Thank you to John and all of his staff!

Room Tip: Well worth choosing an ocean view!

Stayed here for 5 nights recently.
Overall very nice but we preferred the Ayana Resort and Spa in Jimbaran where we stayed first.(Different areas, different experiences)
After having stayed in 15 hotels/villas in Bali now, The Oberoi ranks at the the top end of our preferences
However at over $400 a night without breakfast was it the worth the money?? My husband says it was not, me- I did not have an issue with the cost.
Service was pretty good but I expect that level of service from the Oberoi.
Breakfast was very nice and cost $53.00 for the 2 of us.
We experienced both restaurants and ate off the room service menu which we enjoyed and drank a few cocktails. Prices similar to Australia but probably slightly more but was not an issue as we expected these prices.
I would recommend the Oberoi most certainly.
Very limited numbers of Bintang singlets worn at this Hotel and guests were dignified and there for the peace and quiet and the upmarket expereince to be had at the Oberoi.
Quite luxurious and extremely accomodating to their guests
Lovely smiling and polite staff.
The General Manager John should be congratulated as should all of the staff employed at the Oberoi because it really was a very luxurious stay on a beautiful beach surrounded by beautiful gardens and surroundings.
