We started off our honeymoon with a four day stay at the Oberoi after arriving from the U.S. via Singapore. We were immediately upgraded to a bigger villa with a pool that was much bigger than your standard plunge pool. Tremendous villa. The hotel far exceeded our expectation and compares very favorably to the Four Season Sayan in Ubud where we spent the next four days.
The breakfast was outstanding and the Balinese selections (while pricey for Bali) were terrific along with the hot pot of coffee. The grounds were immaculate and the smiling faces so welcoming. Nearby restaurants are plentiful if you want to try those. We found The Living Room to be very average but loved the Frangipani Bar at the La Lucciola restaurant to be a place I could hang all evening. In addition, Ku De Ta next door to the Oberoi was a top notch club/bar.
Don't hesitate staying at the Oberoi though it is 30 years old. It's a SLH (Small Luxury Hotel of the World) and that says a lot.
