“Great eating, great value, an honest to goodness experience.”

First point to note: the phone number on Trip Adviser is slightly wrong. It should be +62 3614736892 (called from Skype).

We booked ahead but I'm not sure if it makes any difference. But they did take my call and the place is not very big so it's good planning ahead.
It's not a big place or celubrious - don't expect Ultimo, but it is an honest little warung serving great food. Our preference.
We shared a table with another unk couple, but not too close, and enjoyed watching the goldfish battling their own little torrent while we waited.
Mother served us and was polite and very helpfull, pointing out what was on or off the menu based on their market availability. A good menu with the usual Indonesian and some very nice seafood choices - but for many you'll need to order a day ahead so that they can market shop. But not all.
We ordered the giant prawns and the whole grilled snapper, all a good size, which were cooked on the coals out front and dressed in garlic.
The family merrily cook away in the kitchen, amazing that they don't clash, working as a finely oiled machine.
The service is as you get it, polite but not hanging off you (it's a family affair), and the food comes at the same rate: as it is freshly cooked, it is presented to you. This seemed a little too agricultural for some impatient patrons but it suited the warung perfectly. Out food was both timely and beautifully cooked. A great meal.
A few cats wandered between tables delighting most and scaring the bejesus out of a couple... a nice local touch. Geckos wandered the ceiling and the goldfish swam.
Considering the bulk of seafood, the number of beers and the quality, the final price was v pleasing at ~AUD$37 inc tip.
A very friendly establishment with evident regulars.
We'll be back next time we are in the neighbourhood.

“Poor Service”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Was waiting the food for ages! The place too hot, stuffy and rustic.
The people not friendly at all! And they charged me more than the price on the menu.
I wouldn't return or recommend.

“Down-home Indonesian cooking”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

I found this place on Trip Advisor and it had glowing reviews, so I decided to go.

Well, I'm so glad I did - what incredibly honest, down-to-earth Indonesian food. The gado gado was fantastic, a large serve presented on a banana leaf fashioned into a "plate" of sorts, and very very flavourful. Totally delicious.

And the satay skewers were wonderful - a mixture of chicken and beef, with a very nice satay sauce.

The ingredients are apparently all organic, prepared in a kitchen that is right there in front of you, apart from the grill, which is out the front of the warung, like most little Indonesian establishments. I guess it's to entice people in with the wonderful smells of cooking food.

Topped off with icy-cold Bintang and, wow, what a wonderful evening meal.

“Best Indonesian food of our trip”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

This truly is a hidden gem and with the coldest Bintang in Seminyak. We loved the fried chicken smothered in garlic, just remember to order the day before if you want to try the suckling pig. Best value and such a nice family atmosphere, we'll be back
