We stayed at Ziva Villa for 6 nights, all up the place was nice. Not 100% I’d return, but if the price was right we may consider it.
PROs:
• The staff are lovely – Augus is extremely caring and attentive to his guests. We really liked him.
• The pool is long (if you want a long pool make sure you get a villa with a long pool, rather than a L shaped pool).
• The bed is very comfortable & the pillows are nice to sleep on
• The rooms have 2 A/C units in them, so they’re nice and cool
• The villa’s at the end of the complex, are nice and quite
CONs:
• Villa 1 is up close to the road, and while we were here the place next door was being built, and the builders looked straight into the villa bedroom, pool & bathroom area. They have also been built out recently, so privacy isn't 100%. But a Pro is that we complained about this & the late the next day they moved us to another villa, which was quiter. We think they put up a higher privacy fence after we moved villas. After we requested, they eventually waived the late checkout fee as a result of having little to no privacy for the first 24hours.
• The wooden steps near the kitchen area are very slippery & aren’t scrubbed well – so you may very well take a tumble on them. Be aware of this, you’ll fall fast and hard & it hurts. My husband took a tumble on them & still has a large bruise on this back.
• The pools are heavily chlorinated at the outset – so you get quite dry skin from swimming. But during you’re stay the don’t clean the pool very well - so if you’re there a few days, but the end the water will be cloudy enough that you can’t see the bottom of the pool.
• The food they cook isn’t the best, we got free breakfast & afternoon tea, and one lunch basket. The boiled and poached eggs are served with runny whites, while the fried & scrambled eggs are overcooked. The Toast is served cold & the juice is a little tasteless. Overall it’s not a great breakky – free, but not great. The afternoon tea is a small warmed up piece of chocolate cake, which tastes like a cheap packet mix cake, trust me you don’t need to rush back for it. The lunch basket is also disappointing. Opt for a cheaper room rate & go out for better meals instead. It’s such a shame, as this could be an amazing added extra if the food was cooked with love.
• The A/C units may leak, which ours did, so don’t put your suitcase under the units.
• There are a LOT of mozzies there, but they do offer fly spray in the room. Admittedly this isn’t their fault. But you do risk getting eaten alive if when you go to the toilet - that’s outside. And Zika is in Bali, so be aware and be very careful.
• They don’t have a environmentally friendly policy – so all your towels, sheets & open soap packets are replaced daily. They also have free small water bottles, which would be nicer if they used the 15L water dispensers instead & allowed you to drink from a glass as much as you want & saved on land-fill in the process.
• The pathway to the villas inside the complex is very uneven and slippery, be careful not to slip.
