we love staying at the budget villa, spacious room, quiet area, rice paddy field view. we had a pc on the room, sofa, kitchen utensils. etc. you get more than you paid. we will be back soon to the studio with our big fam!

Room Tip: the budget villa is the best choice for this hotel

After staying at many other budget hotels in Bali and being bitterly disappointed I loved staying at the Studio. My bed was amazing, really really comfortable and large. The living room overlooked the pool and had beautiful decor. Late check out was no problem! The pool was smallish, and breaky average but I would stay here again in a heartbeat. If you're worried that Kunti Two is too far away from the action it's not. Taxis are 25K ($2.50au) so really, it's not a problem. The staff were lovely and I really don't have many complaints other than the towels could use updating (seriously!) and the bathroom was a little shabby to be honest. As a single female traveler I felt safe here. I loved being able to order food from any restaurant to my room and enjoyed many cold beers and movies while completing my work in Bali.

The Studio is tucked away down a quiet side road off the fairly fast moving Jalan Kunti 2.

On the rooms alone this place is great value, clean and spacious and they are prepared to bargain. We stayed in the villa (quiet despite the massive building site across the rice paddies) and then the upstairs room (noisier but still good).

The negatives:

- there is a seriously polluted river running through the property which the staff told me was raw sewerage.
- you definitely need a moto to use the shuttle to get into Seminyak proper as its quite out of the way
- the staff are really smiley but seem totally baffled by working in a hotel. On day 6, having asked the same guy every single morning at breakfast if he could top up the coffee and bread (both empty every day) he seemed as shocked at the request as he had every other day. There were only two couples there but I think Facebook was far more interesting for him
- as above, the breakfast was terrible particularly the coffee (this region has some of the best coffee in the world - serve some!!) Better to save the 70,000rp, get a lower room rate and go out to Seminyak.

I have mixed feelings about The Studio. Lovely rooms, a fairly quiet area, reasonable pricing. We stayed in the "superior" room upstairs, as well as one of the standard rooms down by the pool. The rice paddys other reviewers mention are by the "budget villas", which looked nice.

The location is a little difficult if you're into exploring on foot (as is most of Bali, actually). Relatively convenient for Seminyak and Kuta.

The staff are a mixed bunch. Most seemed very inexperienced, almost shy? We had a few occasions to ask them for fairly basic hotel related assistance, and they were a little inept. Friendly, but a bit "green" I'd say.

Would I recommend the Studio? Sure, if you're looking for a base in the Seminyak area and you're quite self sufficient. Good luck!

Great accomodation! We'd stay there again.
You get a great living room with TV, DVD- Player and even a dolby-surround-system together with a clean bathroom and a bedroom for little money.
it all comes with a/c, hot water and a balcony.
breakfast is really basic though.
the only bad thing is the location since it is a bit out of the center and it is hard to walk since there are no boardwalks. there is a hotel car which drives 3 times every day to the beach or wherever you wanna go for free and for the way back you pay like 10000 Rupiah for a taxi.
all in all GREAT VALUE for the money so go for it ;)

For its price, we really do get value for our money. We stayed at the villa, the room is spacious and well equipped, it comes with kitchenette, computer, lcd tv, ipod docking station etc, it's awesome for the price we paid. But the bathroom needs to be cleaned up, and the bath tub is leaking. The villa has large windows, overlooking rice paddies at the front and garden at the back. Unfortunately, the property was flooded when we were there, the studio apartment on the ground floor (near the pool) was flooded and the entire street was also flooded bad.

We chose Seminyak and The Studio as a place to set base camp as soon as we landed after a long flight and with a promise of peace and quiet while being attracted to the features their Budget Villa provided. We were not disappointed. The taxi from the airport cost a 100K (bargained down from 250K) and Jalan Kunti is a peaceful location away from the buzz of Seminyak but just. Their shuttle promised to drop us to fixed points (but was under repairs but they fixed us a free taxi drop to the lovely beach by the temple. The quaint basket shop on Jl. Kunti is a must visit for those fixated with such things!

The Villa is like a service apartment and has a dock (yesss went my son), internet on the TV a pantry where you can cook and clean and comfortable seating on two balconies on either side. For features and value this definitely gets my vote. Though slightly interior the front desk will arrange a cab in no time at all.

Where could they have done better ? No back up power when it fails...and it did while we waited out with candles , replenishment of the breakfast takes for ever but the fare is repetitive but unlimited (!!) The staff is ever smiling and helpful.

The beds are very comfortable and the room layout is neat for a couple but the couch is for those under 4'6" if you aren't taking an extra bed, breakfast is extra for bigger kids at 35K. A word of caution in the bathing area the steps are steep and may not serve a senior as there's no handrail . The sliding cupboard was coming off the rails but then who cares!

The sunrise and sunsets over the paddies are lovely while you sip your morning beverage watch an industrious farmer keep away the marauding little birds that feed on the ripening grain. I loved the place but we had to move on to Ubud but we will be back for more of Seminyak Square, the lovely beach and the peace away from the bustle of Kuta. Great eating places further past Jl.Sunset.

Do Tanah Lot from here about 200K by cab the place and the sunset is amazing while the temple chants electrify the atmosphere.

CAUTION:Watch for the Authorised Forex dealers in Seminyak who give you OTT, crazy rates....They can make even ol' Ben Franklin look their way...see photo... sleight of hand is the norm. Not all but some are notorious ..... count , count and count again before you leave the premises!!Thanks to Ketut our industrious taxi driver we got back IR 1M we had been cheated out of.

Room Tip: You have either a pool view in the bigger villas or the paddies view in the smaller villas...so take...
