The Wolas Villas & Spa
Certificate of Excellence

My husband and I travelled to Bali in July 2010 for four nights, and we stayed at The Wolas Villas. We couldn't fault the premises, they are stunning, immaculately clean and incredibly spacious. The online pictures accurately match the accommodation in person. The staff were very friendly and we found their service to be top notch. The western breakfast could be improved, however the traditional food is excellent. We did not self cater, however the facilities provide for this should you wish to do so. My husband had never been to Bali before and he was impressed with the facilities, being so quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. It was truly relaxing and perfect for a romantic getaway. We taxied everywhere very cheaply (5 minutes to heart of Seminyak) and called reception from our villa to ask them to make bookings and call us to alert when the taxi arrived. My sister in law and her boyfriend came to visit us at our villa for an afternoon on the third day of our stay and couldn't rave enough about the wonderful accommodation. The pool is fabulous - be careful not to slip on the floor with wet feet. The only thing we had to concern ourselves with was calling reception to ask them to turn on/off the waterfall! Also that we couldn't stay for a longer time period ... Luxury. We will certainly return to Wolas Villas.

We stayed at the Wolas Villas as a second part of our Bali trip. I think the first place we stayed somewhat spoiled this place which didn't quite have the charm of the first. The villas are very new and need a bit more greenery which will come in time.

The villas are very comfortable - we had number 16 and the beds are huge and very comfortable with a large bathroom which is well air conditioned. There is an outdoor lounge with a second TV which is a bonus if you're both watching something different!

One small reflection is the breakfasts aren't great and although the choice is large I'd be tempted to eat elsewhere in Seminyak. I also thought the art spoilt the decoration in the villas - it's very badly painted semi-abstract works which are too colourful and hurt the eyes - they seem to have no connection to the Balinese feel of the villas which is a shame.

The staff were very friendly and helpful although there was one random man who'd come and chat while you were trying to eat breakfast and after a few minutes of chatting try and sell you a tour guide or something else for the day. I was quite tired of being sold trips by this stage and this is annoying and unnecessary while you're trying to eat.

On the whole, I'd recommend the villas. The location isn't great and be sure to take a card as many taxis don't know the villas as they're so new. But overall, clean and friendly.

We were attracted by their website so we decided to choose this villa for our 3D2N stay after 1 week of diving in Bali. We had stayed in a few villas in Bali so our hope is quite neutral.
Upon checked in, we were impressed by the villa. The private swimming pool was so clean! We found out that they do pool cleaning everyday! Unheard of for me, at least in Bali. Pool to our left and the huge kitchen is in our right with a dining table. Nice painting on the wall as well. Kitchen is clean and drinking water was provided, hot, cold or room temperature water is just a click away! FANTASTIC!
After the kitchen is the living room with a 42" LCD, with 1 3 seater and 1 1 seater. Also comes with pillows. the sofas and pillows are very clean!
Facing the pool is the bedroom. my goodness, the bedroom is HUGE with king size bed! attached is the bathroom. the bathroom is exactly the same size with the master bedroom! Also comes with a 42" LCD and DVD player. Nice!
Bathroom is seperated in to 3 parts, shower, bathtub and toilet. the bathtub is so clean that it's the first bathtub in my stay of all hotels that i dare to soak myself into!
Staffs were really polite and helpful. They will show up immediately after u called them on the phone. The restaurant supervisor, Leo, was one of the most enthusiastic staff that i encountered in a very very long time! THX LEO FOR EVERYTHING!
Just remember to try the romantic candlelight dinner in the villa! absolutely an experience not to be forgotten! Even though the food is only so so, but we were delighted that the environment that they created for us in our villa is more than sufficient to overcome this minor hiccup.
As for the spa, book early as the hotel spa is small. doing it in the villa took away some of the experience. By the way, the spa was quite good and the pricing was very reasonable after the 30% discount offered to all guests who stayed in the villa.
The only thing is that since most of the flooring was in tiles, therefore it gets really slippery if your feet are wet. Almost fall down twice after swimming.
other than that, staying in this villa gave us the best experience in Bali! Will definitely come back again to pamper ourselves!

We traveled to Bali around end of September for about 10 days with our two and half yr old daughter. Along with us, we had two other families with kids as well. All in all we had three villas next to each other and must say that we had a fantastic stay. It was our first trip to Bali and Wolas made it an absolute pleasure. We were greeted after a long flight from Australia with chilled towels and fresh juices. The villas are exactly how its advertised on their website and may be even better. Top class rooms, bathrooms and best of all the pool. The staff at Wolas made our stay all the more comfortable and made us feel like KINGS.....a special thanks to all the staff for making our trip a one to remember for a lifetime. Please note that the massage at Wolas is one of the best we tried in Bali. I give full marks to Wolas. Also worth mentioning is a driver that we across by accident who provided a 24/7 car and his local knowledge that made our trip a breeze. His name is Rafi and can provide his details if any one is interested - my email add is amitmalhotra98@hotmail.com.

We had a wonderful 6 night stay at The Wolas Villas. The villas are beautiful and immaculate with everything you could possibly need and only 6 months old so in amazing condition.I was really impressed with how large and spacious our 1 b/r villa was. We never dined at the villas and there are so many amazing restaurants in Seminyak but we did have breakfast delivered to us in our villa each morning which was simple and satisfying.

The service was excellent, the staff were friendly and made sure we were happy and comfortable. I thought it was reasonably priced; we paid about US$210 a night on a special online rate. I saw some more expensive villas and hotels during our stay and thought the Wolas was nicer. It is likely the prices will go up as they become more established.

The only downside would be that the Villas are not in the best location. They are too far out of central Seminyak to walk in so you have to be prepared to get taxis everywhere. Lucky taxis are very affordable and we only ever had to wait about 2mins for one to show up at the villa so it really wasn't a hassle. On the plus side the villas are quiet and tucked away not placed in the hustle and bustle which made for a relaxing holiday.

My only tip would for those who stay at Wolas Villas would be to have a very good idea of where they are located and be able to direct taxi drivers. Because the villas are only 6 months old, most taxi drivers have no idea where they are. We learnt the hard way on our first night - thank god for maps on IPhones

I would definitely recommend these villas to friends and family and would happily stay there again.

We spent our first 5 nights in another hotel/villa, so naturally we were comparing The Wolas Villas to the other one. The Wolas is a very new and very beautifull villa complex. The villa we stayed in had everything on the ground floor. There was a spacious open kitchen, an open living and dining area next to our private pool and terrace. The spacious bedroom and ensuite huge bathroom were in a separate part which could be closed off from the rest, so you could leave on the air conditioning there. As there were a lot of mosquitos (which is normal in the tropics, but there were more than in the other hotel we stayed in), we would have appreciated a mosquito net in the bedroom.
Breakfast could be served in the hotel restaurant or in your villa. We always took breakfast in the villa. Unfortunately there is nothing really positive to say about breakfast. We tried Indonesian and American, but neither of them was good. Although, sometimes it was a little bit better depending on the cook. Because of this poor breakfast quality, we didn't dare try dinner at the restaurant. Moreover, prices were ridiculously high ! Also the prices for the spa treatments were too high compared to other spa centres.
The hotel had 2 shuttles a day going to Kuta Beach (one at 10:00 am and one at 2:00 pm), but you had to make reservations one day in advance. For other trips, even short ones like going to Seminyak centre, you had to take a taxi.
Reception staff were friendly, but were acting a bit like robots, taking a bow everytime you arrived or left. It was as if they were programmed and they weren't spontaneous.
Our overall feeling was that this is a beautifull complex, but there is a lot of room for improvement as far as breakfast and service are concerned. Restaurant and Spa prices are also too high.

We stayed in Wollas for one week at the end of August - The Wolas Villas is all is says on it's webste - charming, relaxing friendly place. The villas are well appointed - the private swimming pool is a good size and completely secluded - it is ideal to cool off in during the day or at night after returning from dinner! The staff are welcoming and charming - the accomodation is first class - kept spotlessly clean and maintained. You can have breakfast in your villa but we found it better to go to the restaurant - the service there is faultless and you can learn so much about the surrounding area and what's on through conversation with the staff. Try the banana pancakes - there are great - but if you ask for a boiled egg make sure you say 10 mins - that way it will be about right rather than undercooked!! We also recommend the BBQ in your villa in the evening. The staff set up your table complete with tablecloth and chair covers and cook and serve your food right beside you - an unforgetable experience. The lounge is a good size and comes complete with kitchen - the bedroom is very roomy - it has to be to accommodate the bed - which is massive. The bathroom is well equipped - bath, shower , wc well spaced out. It also has an outside shower. Mosquitos are kept well under control - one of the nice features is that the night turn down services also sets up the "burner" that keeps the mossies away from the lounge area. A spray is also provided but we were rarely troubled.
We found no fault with the Wolas - they have a beach club which is only 10 mins away (free shuttle bus to the beach) with towels etc provided - the food is excellent and the staff go out of thier way to help. The Spa treatments - although more pricey than you find outside - are much better and in a clean, private dedicated area - the staff are very professional and "know thier stuff" - it is well worth the little extra
There are great restaurants near by in Seminyak (10 mins) - about 15000 rps in a taxi - or you can head off into Kuta (20 mins dependant on traffic) - don't let the location of the Wolas put you off - Wolas is not on the beach nor in a "bar / restaurant area - but is away from the noise and hassle of beach areas or "downtown" so you can retreat and re-energise in a quiet haven after a day of negociating prices or dealing with hawkers.
If you meet Leow - he will keep you right - ask him to make you a Singapore Sling - it's fantastic.
Without doubt one of the best holidays we have had in Asia
