“Great Vacation!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

What can I say? Our stay in Grania, was way beyond our expectations! The villa was well equipped with everything one would need, for an in-house stay. The whole place was well kept and all the staffs were very friendly and polite. I was even given a motorcycle ride by one of the butlers (Agus), when I needed to get some Dollars converted to Rupiah. The butlers came at the appointed time in the morning, to cook our selected breakfast. After serving it, they washed the used dishes and utensils, and cleaned the while kitchen/dining area. Having lunch and dinner in the villa was also a breeze…you can ask the butlers to order for you and just wait for the delivery. Don't forget to have your Rupiahs ready though. They don't accept foreign currencies. Well, we had to find this out the hard way…but thanks to the staffs (especially Emma) who paid for our orders first (with their own personal money) and just placed the tab in our final bill. Fantastic, right?!
You also don't have to worry about eating out at the open at night; as the butlers come, to spray and put insect repellants all around the place.
You can do practically everything in the villa, without your privacy being compromised. The place is so tranquil; except for the occassional motorcycles passing outside, that you can really enjoy every moment of your stay. Oh, I forgot to mention…we were given a free upgrade to one of their 2-bedroom villas. Awesome, right?!
We'll definitely come back to Grania Bali Villas, taking along the kids this time. =)

My partner and I spent a week at grania. There are only four villas within the complex and each one had amazing floor space, large private lap pool and amazing and attentive staff. The location is a little away from hotspots, however with the cheap fares with cabs, it wasn't really much of an issue. Great selection of breakfast foods each morning that are prepared in your own kitchen by staff whilst you wait.

I would recommend grania for a couples getaway who are looking to unwind and experience more than just the party scene.

I was staying in Grania for 2 nights and I felt very comfortable with the villa also I please with the service. From the simple thing like on time pick-up transportation according to my time request. when I arrived in the villa, I got a surprise because they upgrade my one bedroom into the two bedroom villa which is bigger and nicer than I expected. The staff was very polite and friendly to guest, also authentic. The villa itself was clean and private. It's a best place to stay if you are planning on honeymoon with your lover. the location is very peaceful, you wont hear the noise of any vehicles! Its very quite, i love the ambience until i cant resist to leave the villa. the bathroom so spacious and you will feel so close with nature. Perhaps I only suggest to add the airport transfer included in the rate. After all, I highly recommended this villa for couple! You will not regret it for a memorable experience :)) thank you ms. Emma and all the staff!

As soon as we arrived I went to get changed into my bathers, with the curtains open assuming that as we'd booked for a private villa it would be private. It was then I noticed someone 'working' on the fence looking straight into the room I was getting changed in.
My now fiancé had pre organised with the villas what was supposed to be a romantic dinner, having explained to them he was planning to propose the night we arrived at the villas over dinner.
A thunderstorm started during dinner and the gazebo they'd set us up under was leaking profusely.
They served us microwaved McDonalds French Fries, chicken nuggets, diced vegetables (obviously microwaved) and schnitzel that had clearly been sitting there a while, and rose petals on the bed. They also turned up the music awfully loud, so I turned it down, and they came in and turned it up again so loud I didn't actually hear what my partner said when he proposed. They charged him 800,000 for this 'service' and the 'dinner'.
The next morning we asked about hiring a scooter from them, and they had one waiting for us. Two minutes down the road we were pulled over by the Police who requested to see the registration papers. The scooter hadn't been registered since 2005, and demanded we pay them 900,000RP or go to court. We tried explaining it had been rented to us, but they weren't interested. As a result they confiscated the keys and the scooter, leaving us on the side of one on Bali's busiest highways trying to get transport back to the villas, where we promptly booked cheaper, far more professional and luxurious villas nearby and left Grania. Thank goodness their credit card machine hadn't been working the night before so we only had to pay for the one night we stayed without having to try to get a refund on the entire trip.
The entire villas looked worn out and run down, I think people who have never stayed elsewhere would probably have lower expectations but in comparison to other villas, Grania was overpriced, regardless of whether they ruined the proposal night for us.

Room Tip: Take a good look around your villa to ensure they are actually private and no one is peeking inside...

Dear fromAdelaide,

Warmest greetings from Grania Bali Villas!
Thank you for your comment on our Trip Advisor Page.
We are sorry to hear that your last visit is not went smoothly as you expected.

Please be advised that our villa has no fence surrounding, in fact we use bamboos on the top of the wall in order to avoid someone to be able to see the villa from any perspective.

On your arrival day there was a big thunderstorm and as everyone knows that in Bali, January is still considered as a rainy season and sometimes water leaking are unexpected to be occur. As an action we always offer our guest to move to have dinner in our living room.

The music is turned on a bit louder is because it is located in our living room which is about 3 meters from the gazebo it self, hence we are very much appreciate if our guest were telling the issues directly to one of our team so that we could manage all the situation as you expected at that time.

Please be advised that there is no scooters belong to Grania that is rented for our guest. In case that our guest is looking to rent a scooters, then we will help them to find a scooters rental. We as the management will just be able to assist and remind our guests of all the items needed and the applicable rules in order to ride a scooters in Bali. However it is again still a responsibility of our guests to checked their own International Driving License and the condition of the scooters it self. At last, our guests are the one who will have a deal directly to the scooters rental company by both of them signing the rental agreement.

Please rest assured that Grania Management Team will meet your expectation on your next stay with us.

Happy Travelling!

First time to Bali! We read review after review and became so paranoid about finding a wonderful place to stay. Everyone had positive and negative feedback and we were sure we would pick a dud. DIDNT happen! We walked into an OASIS. We didn't have to stand in a queue at a reception desk. Our check in was completed in our villa while we had a cool drink. The Villa itself was gorgeous. Such a tranquil and relaxing environment we just loved it. I do not believe I could find anything to knock about it. The fantastic staff Julio, Emma, Elmar, Nyomen, Nani just to name a few treated us so well. Nothing was a drama. Even taking my large husband on a scooter at night to get money from an ATM. Our breakfast was cooked daily in our villa. It was delicious and so filling. We tried everything. Water was great. Did I mention how big the King size bed was and how comfortable it was. OMG. Bedrooms air-conditioned. Outside seating area cool no mozzies. Julio organised a driver to pick us up from the airport. His name was Nyomen and he made our holiday. We felt at ease straight away with him and we booked him for the duration of our holiday. The villa is not on the beach however the location is central and we didn't go out at night so it suited us really well. THANK YOU Grania Bali Villa's we will certainly be back. Thank you all for making a special holiday even more special. :)

Lovely, clean, spacious villa. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The villas are located away from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak which has it's advantages and disadvantages. very easy to get a taxi into the shopping and restaurant precinct.

Upsides - Lovely villa, wonderful staff, excellent service, good location, quiet at the same time closeby to the happening areas like the Kuta and Seminyak beaches. Water is clean despite what some other reviews are saying.

Downsides - Portion of daily served breakfast is small, living room should have an aircon as well because it can get quite stuffy, private pool should be heated and lastly the wifi connection is unstable.

Overall a pleasant stay with warm and efficient service.

Dear JackyAndrea,

Thank you for your feedback and all the compliments for Grania Bali Villas.
We are sorry to hear about the portion of the breakfast, please be advised that we always served a standard portion of American Breakfast with some pastries. About the additional air con in the living room we are still in a discussion of getting it one soon.

Please be advised as well that our pool is an outdoor pool to keep it natural and we are not able to heat the water as it will depends on the weather. In fact most of the swimming pool are not warm when you enter it but it will be warm after you actually swim because your body is going to adjust the temperature. We will also do an action with our wifi connection soon.

Thank you and hope you will come back again for your next visit to Bali.

Cheers,

Julio Reinaldo
