“Tranquility”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As soon as you pull up to the gates, the staff rush to greet you. The staff are very friendly but not overbearing and very helpful. We felt relaxed straight away and loved the pace of life inside the villas. Good eating not far from the villas, either on the beach or down the road. Taxis are cheap and quick to arrive. Would recommend to familys or for a romantic getaway.

The villas are just 15 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta / Legian area. The villas are well maintianed and well furnished. The open-air bath areas are wonderful. The pool could have a larger shallow area for kids. The beach is a 5 minutes walk away. The good part - excellent beach and not crowded

We chose this propery mainly because of the generally positive reviews seen in Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed.
We prebooked and airport to hotel transfer and return with airporttransfer@balidrivertour.com and the driver was there with our name and booking code at the arrival area. The visa on arrival arrival tax is $US25.00 the departure tax is RP150000. We were descended at the luggage carousel by guy wearing porter badges but we waved them away. Then another offical looking guy offered us "priority transfer through customs and immigration". We were through all that in 10 minutes so I don't think you need to use those services.
Our villa was called Dahlia and had 3 bedrooms. We overlooked a rice paddy on one side and the large gardens of the hotel complex on the other side. The private pool was a nice size and keep clean. Both our children took their laptops and had good wifi reception at all times. The free breakfast was adequate to start the day.
The staff were very helpful and flexible. Rai the cook was happy to cook anything you wanted and was very helpful. Ayu and Niti from the front desc made things run smoothly and catered for any requests we made (taxis and printing our boarding passes, recommendations about tour drivers).
If you didn't wish to eat in the hotel which has a nice range of food at reasonable prices but didn't wish to goto Seminyak Town there are 3 quite good restaurants within 500 metres of the hotel.
The taxi fare to Seminyak Square (which is a good drop-off point) is about RP20.000 $AU2.00, it takes about 15 minutes to get there from the hotel reception.
The rooms were spacious, each with own outdoors bathroom and shower (quite private), houskeeping came by each day and moped and swept and replenished towels and toiletries. A drinking water container was located in the downstaires kitchen (it holds 15 litres) and was replenished when it ran out. The downstairs area which incoporates a kitchen with full size fridge and microwave has a seating area with table and day bed and lounges looking out on the pool.
We did an ATV tour with SEE BALI ADVENTURES , they were professional and great to deal with. My wife and I did a balinese cooking class with Anika Guest House Balinese Cooking Class, nice experience with good range of recipies.
There are plenty of licenced money changers near Seminyak Square you get a great deal compared with using ATM or credit cards (look for the ones displaying no commissions or fees, they dispay the daily rates for most currencies. At Seminyak Square there is a large general store called Casa Gourmet) where you can buy beers softdrink, fruit just about everything you need for your stay.
We plan to go back to Bali within a year and I have no hesitation in recommending the Bali Aroma Exclusive Villas to people wanting a quiet but comfortable place to stay near the Seminyak area. You are only 15 mins and $2.00 away from the Clubs and pubs of Seminyak and maybe 20 mins from Kuta.

The Bali Aroma Villas were the first destination on our honeymoon and we were chuffed when we arrived. The check-in process was simple as you'd expect and we were assisted to our villa (Tulip) by the hotel porter.

The villa was gorgeous. We had a private pool, a kitchen area with seating, an outdoor shower and bath area and a huge bedroom. There was also free wifi, although the signal wasn't great.

The villas are totally secluded from each other which was perfect for us as newlyweds, and the beach is a 2 minute walk away.

The service in general from the staff was superb. Everyone knew your name and made you feel very welcome. A special mention to Ronnie (not how it's spelt, I'm sure) who went out of his way to tender to our every request. He even arranged a free car for us to a restaurant run by a mate of his which was a nice touch.

Ok, now on to why this resort fell short of a 5-star rating.

The breakfasts became slightly tedious and could do with a little more variation. You have three choices; Indonesian, American and Continental, but none are particularly good quality. The American breakfast should be avoided!

The location, while remote, was a little too far away from any restaurants or bars. Naughty Nuri's BBQ place is close but aside from that, you'd need to hire a taxi or walk along one of the dark roads which seems just short of committing suicide!

The beach was lovely to have close, but on two consecutive nights there were beach parties going on till the early hours. Obviously the resort has no control over this so I'm in no way blaming them, but it's something to consider.

I don't want to finish on a negative and I would definitely stay at Bali Aroma again. It was great value and the villas were lovely, it's just I feel they could do a few things better than they currently are.

The villas are right next to the beach. the villa is very spacious and offers your own swimming pool. Staff is very friendly, and breakfast is served in your villa at your convenience. I can definitely recommend this place. Cool restaurants like KUDETA, W, Laluciola is just around the corner.

A friend and I have just returned from 8 nights at Bali Aroma Villas. Wow! What a find, we booked via wotif.com at a good rate based on previous reviews on this site and we weren't disappointed. Our villa was Edeiweiss, a 2 br villa. Very quiet, no noise at all other than the gently trickling water from the pool fountain.

The huge open lounge/dining/kitchen area is great, the pool is enormous for a private villa and we're missing it already! The outdoor shower is cool and overall, considering the price and rating of the property, it was a wonderful stay.

No problem with the Wifi in the villa, always on and working which was a huge convenience.

The staff are lovely and very helpful though as with many Balinese, their English is limited to the basics but that's OK, my Indonesian is non existent. We also found them very honest and sometimes had left cash or valuables out when when went into town and nothing had been touched while the room was cleaned.

Other than the breakfasts we didn't eat at the property so can't comment on any other meals. We did however wander up the road 2-3 times to Naughty Nuri's and it was fantastic having that so close. The pork ribs are to die for!!

A few qualifications, though, to temper the praise for the property.

*The breakfast's were very basic and became boring. We often ordered the Mei or Nasi Goring for a change from hard cooked eggs (regardless of style), dry bacon and quite awful chicken sausages.
*There needs to be a TV that can be watched from somewhere other than sitting on either bed. If you both want to watch something you have to go into the bedroom rather than lazing in the lounge.
*The property should provide some local guide material for restaurants, shopping, etc along with a guide for the TV channels.
*We did find it restrictive in terms of location. To say this is Seminyak is really stretching the truth, it is Petitenget, almost Korobakan. Other than going to the local strip along Batu Belig, a taxi is needed (unless you want to walk down the beach to Ku Da Ta etc). And with Bali's roads now almost permanently gridlocked from 7.00 am until midnight, a taxi to Seminyak is 15-20 mins and at times it was around 30 mins to get down to central Seminyak.
Don't believe the times that are published on their websites; they may have been calculated in the middle of the night. It took me well over an hour to get from the Villas to Jimbaran Bay one morning so be prepared for a lot of time spent in taxis.
*The beach around here isn't very clean and to get from the Villas to the beach requires a walk through a paddock and across a drain as others have noted. Not the properties fault, though and frankly, with a pool such as these, why would you even think of going to the beach?

The location lets the Villas down and a few minor points as I've noted but I would stay there again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. In a couple of years time the area will be totally built up and it will loose it's peacefulness but until then, make the most of it!! If you want to escape the rat race, this is the place to do it.

The good:
- Big private pool
- Quiet
- 10 minute taxi ride to shopping and restaurants
- Hotel prices are reasonable.
- Free WIFI
- Nice service

The not so good:
- Although very close to the beach, it's a rough trail to venture to the ocean. At the time of this posting (April 2011), I had to walk through dirty rubble, muddy ground, and cross a plank over a fast moving stream of grayish sewer-like water. The beach was not exactly nice either. I wouldn't lie on the sand because there were broken glass bottles and trash everywhere. The large waves were a plus.
- American Breakfast not very American. The cook seem to put spices in everything. I ending up ordering Indonesian style. Also, the variety and quality was not as good as compared to other villa we stayed.
- Towels had spots. I'm sure they're clean, but it doesn't feel very nice to use spotty towels.
- The bathroom and shower are located outside of the bedroom On one night, I had to take a shower in the typhoon weather. It was creepy as hell! We didn't even consider using the bathtub.

Overall, we had a satisfactory stay despite the issues listed above. We enjoyed the short taxi ride to downtown. There are also a couple of nice spots to eat 10 minutes walk from the villa. Ordering food from the hotel was cheap and decent. Hotel shuttle to and from the airport is cheap as well.
