“Lovely little place in the heart of it all!”
Reviewed January 20, 2010

I stayed in the (smaller) Kecak room at Teka-Teki for 4 nights in mid-January, and could not have made a better choice! This is the kind of place that one would be VERY hard-pressed to find without the help of TA'S reviews. It's located in a little laneway (Gang Puri Kubu, not "Kubi" as indicated here on Trip Advisor) not far away from Queen's Tandoor in central Seminyak, within easy walking distance of a lot of good bars and restaurants (be sure to take a flashlight with you, esp. during the rainy season, as the road is poorly lit at night). The room itself was very clean and functional, with a comfortable queen-size bed, a small TV with an excellent variety of channels and good A/C for those sticky Bali nights. Heck, there's even a small safe in the room for your valuables! The bathroom is shared with the other room upstairs, which can be a little inconvenient if you're not used to that, but it is a lovely and clean semi-outdoor bathroom and, at 200,000 IRP a night, who could complain? There is a very cozy little courtyard just off the room where you can watch the rain and admire the birds, as well as a mini-kitchen and library on the way to the bathroom. The layout is perfect and no detail has been overlooked: you're in a traveller's secret haven. The highlight of my stay at Teka-Teki was its hosts: Jules, Ketut, Putu and Kadek - and let's not forget Dian and Louis! All of them are most welcoming and genuinely friendly and helpful (esp. Louis if you want him to help out with your food!). Trust me, you'll really feel at home here! Thanks to all of you for a wonderful stay - I'll be back!

So glad we found this place on Trip Advisor! We just had a couple of nights in Bali on our way home to Surabaya, but will definitely be staying here again. Jules is super friendly and helpful, as are the rest of the staff, but the biggest treat is waking up to the sound of birdsong right outside the window. Lovely banana pancakes and fruit out on the balcony every morning is also something I could quickly get used to. We've recommended Teka-Teki to nearly everyone in Java - so make sure you book ahead!

My friend and I visited three countries in South East Asia for our Christmas vacation and though we stayed at many places, all quite lovely, this one is unquestionably the most charming of them all, and not surprisingly my favourite.

It's an oasis in Seminyak, close to everything yet located in a very tranquil, relaxing area. It's tucked away about 3 minutes walk from the main shopping/ eating street, and about a 10 minute stroll from the beach, which has stunning sunsets.

There are two rooms at the guest house. I stayed at the larger room (which can host two persons) on the second floor which personified Balinese comfort, while my friend opted for the slightly smaller air-conditioned, yet equally comfortable room on the first floor. Both rooms were impeccably clean and come with a television and a plethora of channels to choose from.

The bath area and toilet is just as charming as the residence itself. It's gives the illusion of showering in the tropical outdoors but you have all the necessities of modern comforts. Towels- both bath and beach- are provided as well as a bin of shampoos and body wash for those who have forgotten theirs home.

The best thing about this place is undeniably it's staff. Ketut, is an incredibe guy, friendly and engaging and I would highly recommend taking a surfing lesson with him. My friend and I did and we have a wonderful time! So much fun! Plus he gives good recommendations on affordable places to eat and things to see.

Also, there are two sisters who also work there and they are equally friendly and make a delicious breakfast. I chatted mostly with the younger sister and she was fantastic, giving advice whenever we asked.

All in all, if you have a limited budget but want all the Balinese charm you can get, try staying at Teka-Teki House. The only regret you'll have is perhaps not staying longer.
