“Blocked drains - terrible”
Reviewed January 22, 2012

We stayed in Villa 1 and 2 with family and friends in Jan 2012.

The staff were extremely friendly and our review does not include them at all - they were without fault.

Obviously Jan is wet season so we expected lots of rain every day. What we didn't expect was that the villas drains were so badly equipped to deal with wet season.

Our toilets blocked every day and drains overflowed all over the bathroom floor. This was unsanitary and completely ruined our experience.

One of our friends bedrooms flooded completely and she was walking around in puddles of water all day.

We asked to be moved after 5 days because the bathroom and pool were unusable. To the credit of Gusti, the manager, he understood and moved us without fuss to a villa with better drainage.

Both villas are tired and need to be rejuvenated. A very disappointing experience :(

Thank you for taking your time highlight the terrible experience you faced during your recent stay at Abadi villa as a result of the very unusual heavy down pour rain in Bali that day; Obviously the pumping equipment and system in place were totally ineffective to cope with the magnitude of the storm; We truly apologize for all the inconveniences it caused to you and family; Your comments on staff and service are certainly well appreciated. Gusti and the staff did their very best under the circumstances, pro actively looking for an alternative villa for the remaining of your stay;
Meanwhile equipment and system in place are being upgraded to ensure that such occurrence will not repeat itself and that guests do enjoy a trouble free stay at Abadi;
Once again thank you for your understanding;
Our Abadi associates hope for another chance to be of service and to welcome you back in Bali sometimes soon;

We (four adults) recently spent a week in Abadi Villa 2. Although we found the staff extremely friendly and helpful and the overall service great, we thought the villa itself was looking a bit tired and could do with a facelift. The breakfasts were quite ordinary as was the in-house dinner we organised one night. The villa was cleaned every day to a high standard however the pool was, by the end of stay, not very clean. It was also very heavily chlorinated.

The location is quite good - but beware when travelling the back streets of Seminyak in the evening. My bag was snatched by a motorcyclist on our way to dinner one night. Perhaps this experience has influenced my overall view of our holiday (and the villa!).

Dear EllPeer,
Thank you for taking your time to pen down your comments on recent visit at Abadi; First of all I am very sorry to hear of the snatch incident whilst walking around on your way to diner; Whilst surely a very isolated case it does not reflect well and certainly did influence your stay at Abadi; On the other I am very pleased to hear of your total satisfaction for all services rendered by our associates; As for the pool cleanliness and it being heavily chlorinated this will be addressed and looked into.
We truly look forward to welcoming you and your friends back to Bali soon.

We had a family holiday in July (school holidays) and really enjoyed our time at the Abadi Villas.. the villas are comfortable and have everything that you need to make it a relaxing holiday! Big TV for watching all the new DVD's on...Pool to chill out in, although it would have been better if it was a little bit cleaner...Endless supply of food cooked to our liking... Very comfy beds to sleep in at the end of a long day! The staff were very friendly and welcoming! Always smiling and asking how our day was when we returned from one of the many shopping trips we had! There were a few issues with drains and toilets blocking up, but hey, that's Bali for you! All in all a great time was had by all! Thanks!

I stayed in the smaller villa with some friends back in 2006 and then came back to stay for a week with my fiance in January 2011. Unfortunately, there was some construction going on at the neighboring villa which was quite noisy during the majority of our stay, and while the villa was still gorgeous, comfortable, and beautiful, there were pool tiles coming off of the bottom of the pool. This was, in so many ways, a perfect trip aside from these minor issues. I loved lounging in the garden and relaxing in the pool. I'd love to go back again. The staff were very attentive, and there are many good restaurant and entertainment options nearby. Perfect for a couple who wants privacy, or even two couples!

We just stayed in both Villa 1 and Villa 2 for 11 days. Because of the feedback from trip advisor I chose Abadi Villas. So I thought I would comment as well as it helped me. The vialls were just as beutiful as the website depicts. The staff could not do enough for us, especially the Made's and Adi. The food was 24hrs and lovely, the breakfast was ready at the time we asked every day and was very nice. There were no ants as stated in other comments although I took sealed bags for our snack food so not to attract any. There were some mosquitos but it is to be expected. The pools were a great size, my husband loved the mezzanine floor with large flat screen TV with over 200 movies on hard drive. We stayed with friends, then moved to Villa 2 when it was just family. It is close enough to walk to Ultimo and the shops but far enough away to feel secluded and peaceful. The bathrooms were gorgeous and the rooms with walk in robes are the best to hide away all that shopping. We also had friends over to visit and they sepnt the day laying by the pool and the kids had a ball, the staff treated them equally as well. I highly recommend Abadi Villas and we will be returning there in the future. Wish I was there right now!

Before you read this review don’t be put off by what we’ve said as we would stay at Abadi Villas again without hesitation.

Upon arrive at the airport we (4 adults, 2 babies) expected a large complimentary van to take both families back to the villa. Only one van was able to fit a family and their luggage so another 100,000 rupiah was spent on another one. Just be aware of this if you’re staying there and in a similar situation to us.

The villa is beautiful with lush tropical gardens, a fantastic alfresco area with huge roof overlooking the pool/backyard, well stocked kitchen if you need it, ample sized bedrooms with King sized beds and wonderful outdoor bathrooms to really add to the Bali villa experience.

Due to the two babies the staff had to erect a rope fence around the pool which kept the two girls out but at $5 a day we thought it was a bit pricey for what it was.

The pool is a great size but quite cold when you first jump in. You warm up after a while but the chilly water stopped us from spending more time in the pool than we would have liked. The babies didn’t like it at the beginning but like us warmed up. The pool’s probably cold as it’s in shade for much of the day. We’ve stayed in another villa in Seminyak that was in sun most of the day and it was much warmer.

If you’re feeling peckish there is a food menu available and the staff can cook you up something fairly quickly. We ordered from the menu a couple of times and found the food quiet average and expensive for what you got. If you can’t be bothered walking the 8 minutes to Eat St order of the menu but if you feel like a walk you’ll get much better food from the nearby Warung for considerably less $$$. We did that every day and for 50,000 rupiah’s got 5 Indonesian dishes.

The staff cleaned the villa every day but with 2 babies walking/crawling everywhere it didn’t ever seem to be clean. We had to ask them a few times to mop the floors. Maybe because of the babies we were a bit more sensitive to the cleaning but because of them the floors were dirtier. Messy babies!

One aspect of the villa we loved was the daily complimentary laundry service. Our advice is don’t pack too many clothes!

The complimentary Abadi breakfast was adequate with any type of egg you require, fruit, croissants, bread rolls, naturally blended fruit juice and coffee/tea. We got a bit bored with this towards the end of the holiday so went to Sea Circus a few times for breakfast where the food and coffee is sensational. We thought the brekkies here were better than anywhere in Perth!

Bring along your ipod as it connects to their awesome sound system which is piped to all areas of the villa. There’s a massive Plasma TV upstairs with a great selection of DVD’s but we never got around to using it.

Free wifi is available and we used it every day.

In our bathroom one of the drains in the basin was rusted and there was some bubbling of paint on the roof. Again, not a biggy but you don’t expect these types of things in a luxury villa.

You can’t fault the location with only an 8 minute walk to Eat St or Grocer and Grind. That’s not a long walk but as taxis are so cheap we travelled in them everywhere. We were able to travel back streets to go anywhere so missed all the traffic. Bonus!

Seminyak has some absolutely fantastic restaurants that don’t disappoint. They do get pricey if you drink wine but if you prefer a Bintang you won’t pay much over $100 for absolutely quality food. Do visit Starfish Bloo at the W hotel (the hotel itself is very very cool) , Chandi on Eat St, Metsis and Sardine. Trattoria on Eat St has fantastic meals for very little $$$. Hu Bar, Potato Head, Ku De Ta are all great bars for a couple of cocktails. We spent a good afternoon sitting at Potato Head’s pool bar wishing the holiday wouldn’t end.

Abadi Villas, we will be back.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa which was absolutely beautiful. Lovely modern rooms and bathrooms. We all felt very spoilt. The grounds and pool were stunning. The service provided by the staff is second to none and there was nothing that was too much trouble for them. We had a BBQ on our last night and the food was as good if better than any good restaurant we ate at in Bali. Would highly recommend Abadi villas and will return again.
