Villa Aya is in the perfect location on Seminyaks Eat Street. Aya would have been beautiful in it's day some 10-15 years ago but its really aging. The gardens in our private villa are lovely though. We booked with an online booking agent rather last minute and really didn't do enough research into this. I know you get better value for money elsewhere. To me it's over priced for the age of the facilities. We booked 2 Bedroom Villa which turned out to be two completely seperate Villas on opposing sides of the swimming pool with an outdoor covered area with dinning table, sink, fridge and some large day chairs/beds. We booked 2 beds thinking the bedrooms would be not far from each other. We have two young children under 5 yrs old that cannot swim so its not practical for us to have them sleeping in another villa across the other side of the pool with lots of steps, no pool fence and uneven surfaces. So we are all bunking in the one villa with son on couch and littlest one in our bed. Also the bathrooms are old and during the day heat up to about a million degrees. With the outdoor area even at 7am in the morning it was too hot to sit out there as the sun was shinning directly onto that area. Two things that have really turned me off is when we approached the staff about changing Villa they did not get back to us and secondly there was a mouse running around the kitchen area this morning.

If you are looking for relaxation and privacy then this is a nice place to stay with your own private pool in your own private yard. Boutique shopping and excellent dining are only a very short walk from the Villa's.
If you are looking for the hussle and bussle of Kuta and market shopping it is only a quick trip by taxi to those areas.
We had people come to our Villa each morning to cook a breakfast of our choice and clean up afterwards. Must admit choices were limited but it was nice to not have to worry about organising breakfast everyday.
Staff were very friendly and very obliging but some were limited in thier understanding of English which can be a little frustrating. Our room was always clean and well maintained. The Villa's are aging but i found that added to the charm of the place.
We did have an issue with our power, twice we lost power, but it was rectified very quickly upon making reception aware.
There was one day when we had no hot water for showers - that was a little disappointing.
We organised with reception for return transfers to the airport, on our last day when we were ready to travel to the airport, we were told by Management that it had not been organised. He did drive us to the airport but he did charge us for the ride - i would have thought that this would have been inclusive given that there was someone waiting for us at the airport when we arrived, we assumed that there would be a returned transfer back to the airport.

Despite all of the negative comments towards this hotel, we actually had a pretty great stay there. We got a great deal on Agoda, so it was not nearly as expensive as it normally is (we probably wouldnt have booked there if it werent for this, but after staying we would definately go back).

We stayed in a Deluxe Villa, which was lovely. The bedroom was nice, new and somewhat modern furniture. The bathroom was very big with a large bath, and indoor and out door showers. Out door lounge and kitchen, and a large pool.

All of the villas have private entrances so you can park right outside your door and not have to go through to hotel to get to it. You can also get to the beach down the same little road the hotel is on (3 minute drive or 10 minute walk away).

The service was amazing, from checking in to the guys that come to clean your pool, everyone was really nice, friendly and helpful. They even gave us a bag of extra toiletries, because my boyfriend also had long hair. They cook you breakfast in your room at whatever time you want... Although the food was OK, could have been more interesting.

I enjoyed staying there, and would have rated it 5 if it were a little cheaper.

Avoid this place if you can... there are plenty of great villas in Seminyak and this is definitely not one of them.
We booked Villa Aya through Wotif... and on arrival were told that Aya was full and we had been 'upgraded' to the Club Villas under the same management. Unfortunately I wasnt with my wife when she checked in (too tired to argue and with children in tow). Here's some of the highlights....
- Outdoor living areas were crap. There was no lounge/seating area at all, just a small cane dining table with 4 chairs. For two couples with infants this was totally useless.
- The whole area was infested with mosquitoes. Even after they fogged (at our insistence) it was still unbearable.
- The television looked like something from the seventies... but that didnt matter because there was no signal to tune in to anyway
- Bathroom was outdoors (ok usual in Bali), filled with mosquitoes, dark, mouldy, toilet wouldnt flush on occasion, no llighting, nowhere to hang towels, etc.
- Electricity was intermittent. We had to ask for lights to be fixed a few times. The power board wiring was scary... the earth wire was not even connected so dont touch anything if you do go there or you may get fried. The few socket outlets that existed all had many cables plugged through adapters.
- The location was directly next to a major building project which continued 7 days a week well into the evenings. Not only that but the construction workers looked directly into the 'private' garden and swimming pool
- The small lane on which the villas sit is a public thoroughfare and there is plenty of traffic noise. Not the quiet ambience one comes to expect paying top $$$
- The kitchen was dark and gloomy and of course mosquito infested as well. We didnt bother trying to use it so I cant say if any of the appliances worked... (note the comment above on electrics)
- The villa was advertised as having traditional furniture and displaying local artworks on the walls. The walls were bare. The crappy table would have been worth $10... rocking around and spilling drinks whenever bumped
Not much more to say... too expensive for such a bad experience!

Room Tip: Choose another villa!

We booked villa Aya though what-if. When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to the club villas. No refund. A few thoughts on the club villas:

infested with mosquitoes
dirty
noisy (due to adjacent construction site)
faulty power, water and internet
faulty lights
power supply unsafe due to disconnected earth
Have breakfast somewhere else!

A bit like staying in the kampung.

I found the staff friendly though.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else, but if you have to stay here, try to get a villa away from the main road and the construction site. Suggest villa number > 5 (1 is the closest to the road).
