Upon entering the glittering front entrance we were welcomed into a world of tasteful opulence with warm greetings and even watermelon juice on arrival! The Empire Hotel is an oasis of tranquility providing an almost endless myriad of activities to cater to all tastes. The pool deck boasts stunning views, the landscaping is breathtaking and comfort is second to none. We will be back.

I spent the night here last week and I was totally amazed by this place. It was classy, the service was amazing and the club lounge was lovely. After spending a week in KB in a horrible hotel this was somewhere I will definitely return too. My only disappointment was that I didn't have longer to stay!

Room Tip: Upgrade to Club-well worth it

My personal opinion about this hotel? It was built for the Sultan's guests. I doubt this hotel is making money bcoz it's not really having high occupancy, I guess due to the higher price compared to other local hotels.

But bcoz the hotel was made so that other royal visitors or international politians got proper place to stay, the staffs and maintenance still need to be on top notch. So you can only get the best stuff from here.

It's a huge place, you can expect prompt buggy services to bring you from one building to another building. You can check with the Reception again if the ed buggy can bring you to tour around the resort.. Apparently the welcome letter said they can do so, but when we request the buggy directly they said only on certain days or time which I can't remember when.

Ok if there is really one area to improve, it will be their buffet breakfast.. Nothing interesting and spread quite limited.

Other commendable efforts are clean room, happy and friendly doormen at main entrance, super classy architecture, huge swimming pool that round and round the building, huge jacuzzi, nice seaview, blah blah..

By the way, this may be my most kind review on TripAdvisor because I am really happy with my stay here.

My next hotel after The Empire was kind of opposite. Please refer to Halim Plaza review.

Why Halim Plaza after such a classy Empire? No choice.. Relative wedding party were held there so they place us there. So glad at least we get to experience The Empire first.

This hotel falls short of the standards at the best hotel chains in the world and yet there just isn't anywhere else like it. In lush and verdant grounds, between the South China Sea and the rainforest with amazing vegetation and wildlife everywhere, this place is just unique. The service is fabulous the property is spectacular and the food is great - though Room Service is probably best avoided.

Tried this with my college friends way way back. We really had an amazing stay. Our room is with 2 Queen size bed.. I think.. and in order for us to get in our room we need to ask for a ride through a mini golf cart. Uber spacious room with a breathtaking bathroom facilities. We also tried the beach in this hotel. The hotel has its own cinema theater but unfortunately we did not have the chance to try it. Magnificent hotel and if you want to feel luxurious... you should really stay here!

The Empire Hotel is, quite simply, the finest hotel or resort I have ever stayed at.

The hotel is opulent enough to be a palace. The reception area is particularly impressive, with crystal chandeliers, gilded marble columns, and an almost 180 degree view of the South China Sea. The rooms were well-appointed with nearly every possible comfort; my room also had a great view of the ocean. The service that we received was top-notch too: every staff member we spoke to was polite, friendly and helpful.

The resort facilities are great: there are four pools, a cinema, an eight-lane bowling alley, and a golf course: you won’t be bored. As a business traveller, I also appreciated the free Wifi – there was good coverage everywhere we went and it was fast enough to make FaceTime calls on.

There is a good selection of restaurants on-site with a variety of both eastern and western food. Two things to be aware of though: firstly, alcohol is not available for sale anywhere in Brunei, however if you’re a foreigner you can bring a limited quantity into the country (1 bottle of spirits or wine, or 12 cans of beer) providing you declare it at the airport. Secondly, there are no pork products available so if you see something resembling a bacon rasher on the breakfast buffet, be aware that it is likely beef jerky coloured to look like bacon… not very nice. Aside from the fake-bacon though, I enjoyed every meal I had at the Empire.

Overall we had an outstanding experience and look forward to returning in the future.
