It was a hot hot day but the afternoon around the pool was awesome.
Excellent and prompt service throughout the afternoon ensured I did not get thirsty.
Wine tasting around the koi pond in the evening was enjoyable although they did seem to be half hearted about it. A great idea could be improved.
The 5-course tasting dinner on the patio was also great. Perhaps a bit overpriced at R300 for one person without drinks.
Overall a very pleasant experience. I will return.

Room Tip: I had the attic in the original manor house. It was very comfortable with AC and mini-bar etc. Both...

We enjoyed our honeymoon in december in South Africa. We stayed three nights in De kloof luxury estate in the lovely town of Swellendam. We stayed is in the suite which was a beautifull room with a very large bathroom. When we arrived the champagne was allready “ready to drink” in our room. What a welcome. They advised us usefull tips for trips we could do around Swellendam. They even give us binoculares to take on our trip. We stayed on a lazy afternoon with the swimmingpool with stunning views on the mountains. Nice!
The served “a la carte” breakfast which was the best we had in hotels so far! So many different tastes! That gave us a good reason to eat in their restaurant as well. They serve a nice 4 course menu with some delicious wines. With some typical South african tastes. Overall the food is lovely , but here they really surprised us. The service level was very good as well, and not only in the restaurant. We had a problem with the sattelite receiver in our room. This was fixed the same day by the staff. They even cleaned our car every day (without asking!)
Five star hotel on a very reasonable price. If you are in the neighbourhood of Swellendam stay there! You won´t be dissapointed

Room Tip: It´s a small hotel. With the most different rooms. Send them a mail with your wishes . They will hel...

As we left after only one night our main comment was how we wish we could stay for longer. The estate is luxurious, staff always going the extra mile and the breakfast was awesome. This truly is a little piece of paradise in a lovely town. The rooms are huge and the bathrooms have luxurious touches. Our bathrooms had double sinks, bath and walk in shower, you could have a party in them. The estate also opened our eyes to the Robertson wine valley with a free wine tasting. We went to Stellenbosch for one night before but on reflection I would recommend missing out Stellenbosch and going straight to Swellendam as it offers just as much.

Room Tip: Worth an upgrade if you can afford it but all rooms are great.

Stayed here for one night en route to Franshhoeck (from Knysna area) and it was well worth it. Eating here, on the stoop was great. Lovely staff. Very personal and friendly. Maybe consider staying here for two nights (we were only here for one night on 5-Jan) and worth stopping in Robertson for a wine tasting - but don't bother going on a Sunday, as only 3 vineyards open.
De Klassy!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Old Manor House / room / suite. Excellent! Waterbed was a bit weird though...!

After being fortunate to stay in some wonderful hotels round the world, this has to be be of the best!!

The situation of this estate was truly outstanding in beauty. Our room was perfect we were in the upstairs of a small cottage and it was so very romantic, beautiful and clean, wifi in the rooms, tea and coffee making facilities.

The pool area was very comfortable and had some lovely views.

We ate at de kloof on the evening and this has be be one of the best dining experiences ever!! The food was amazing and I would highly recommend anyone staying there to do this.

Once again, breakfast the next morning was another wonderful experience. Service, outstanding. A trip never to be forgotten and one which will certainly be repeated.

On our way from Mosselbay to Capetown, our friends booked the Kloof in Swellendam. When arriving in Swellendam, we didn't really know what to expect. From the highway, one doesn't see anything. Only plain fields, mountains, beautiful nature and nothing else... So, a luxury estate in the middle of nowhere, can this be real? But the small town of Swellendam already gave us hope. A nice town full of B&B, hotels, etc. And then finally, we've found the Kloof. A wonderful place indeed. And we were lucky. We had the suite which is amazing, comfotable, modern, charming, great! The service of the Dutch owners was warm and perfect. The gardens around look very nice, nice swimming pool and koi pond. Before dinner, some wine tasting outside, afterwards, haute cuisine by the lady ofthe house with a good bottle of SA wine. Price more than reasonable for what you get. A great experience! If we ever get back somewhere nearby, we'll stop at the Kloof, whitout any doubt. Great place!

the service was amazing for christmas day. we were on our way from cpt to plett and wanted a place to relax for a night. could not have picked a better spot. honestly this place should be a relais and chateaux property. Maybe some slight room decor changes and small food upgrade to be at the top of relais and chateaux. But it made me think of those hotels. Nicer than some relais and chateaux properties i have stayed at for sure. fun wine tasting, best salad poolside, nice mix of people. 2 days would have been better to fully relax poolside.
