Description: Cavalli’s approach to cuisine can be described as ‘modern, nature inspired cuisine’, inspired by a focus on our heritage as it draws upon the landscapes, flora and fauna of Southern and Continental Africa. The menu seeks to take diners on a gastronomic journey, touching on points of nostalgia paired with an expertly crafted local and international wine list, artisanal cocktail, craft beer and a notable selection of single malt whiskeys. Herbs and a selection of vegetables on the menu are grown in the Estate's self sustained heirloom garden. The restaurant is set to establish itself as a premier fine dining destination locally and internationally and is now open for lunch and dinner 4 days a week, Wednesday through Saturday for relaxed, generous Bistro lunch and Fine-Dining Dinner and Sunday Fine-Dining Lunch.

From the moment you drive in - past the incredible statue of a horse, through the exquisite indigenous garden to this ultra-modern building - the wow factor hits you. The restaurant buzzes, the service is impeccable, and attentive, the food is out of this world, the tastes combinations, the presentation - world class - but South African prices - what a relief - I am a local! Their wines are gorgeous, and again reasonable, the views are outstanding, we will be back, and back and back....

Spectacular new, uber smart, restaurant on new wine estate and stud farm. Fabulous views over Helderberg. And the food....?

We thought, simply stunning. Be warned, this is artistry, rather than quantity, so avoid Equus if hearty portions are your thing! If you value beatifully presented food, good service and a great pallette of delicious flavours, then this is for you.

The amuse bouche was as complex a micro plate as we have ever eaten. The main, for me, of hake, restored my faith in that fish and the beef was brilliant - both delivered with masses of flavour. The chocoate desert was to die for. You might gather we liked it!

Cavalli wine, new to us, was good value and very drinkable.

Can't wait to get back next trip!

Brave or stupid? A new restaurant in an already well serviced market is brave. The reward for us as consumers is that we have another great place to eat and enjoy the surrounds of the Stellenbosch winelands.
Six of us had lunch on Sunday. All of us enjoyed our meals and could not fault what was presented. If there was a small criticism is that the desserts were expensive for the portions.
Service was good.
Visitors should allow time before or after to go through the gallery.
Welcome

We had dinner at Equus on Saturday the 15th of February and did not know what to expect, yet we were pleasantly surprised. The setting is beautiful and well worth a visit in itself at sunset for a lovely cocktail. The cocktail menu is extensive and unique which is great. Very chic interiors with an open plan kitchen where u can see the chefs work their magic and watch them as they plate and decorate the dishes. Although the menu is quite simple, the ingredients are fresh and the plates bursting full of flavours. We experienced great service from the staff and would love to go back for a more informal lunch one day.

Came here for lunch and was presently surprised. The surroundings and building are stunning and the staff were the most friendly and helpful we have experienced in Stellenbosch. The menu is exceptional value and is delicious. We did have a look at the dinner menu out of interest and it was about double the price and didn't seem as good-too modern a lot of ingredients that one would look at and think "what on earth is that?!" Still I haven't actually tried dinner but looking forward to going for lunch again.
