“Vergelegen-top notch estate”
Reviewed November 15, 2012 via mobile

This estate used to be owned by Simon van der Stel, Govenor of the Cape. It is a top notch estate with superb wines on sale. The restaurant offers some of the finest food in the western Cape and should be on the things to do list of all travelers visiting the area. The gardens are magnificent and the museum offers an interesting look at the past.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed November 14, 2012 via mobile

We visited Vergelegen for its historical interest as one of the oldest wine farms as well as for the purported current beauty and it exceeded expectations on all levels. The gardens are beautifully kept and you could spend ages meandering through them, the restaurants prepare excellent food and the old buildings and exhibits are fascinating in themselves. Outstanding presentation and knowledgeable assistants made this an unexpectedly delightful visit.

“Great Gardens & Wine”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

The grounds of this winery are awesome. They do a nice tea srvice and lunch. The bestter wines are behind the bar, not what they serve the masses. We took two bottles home of the four allowed us. Worth going.

“A beautiful garden and good wines”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

The gardens and manor house here are really lovely: if you like English country gardens and woodland then you'll love it here.

We haven' tried the restaurant but afternoon tea was very good as was the wine tasting. Well worth a visit and can easily be combined with a visit to Laurensford just down the road.

“Great walk with the kids”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

We love going there to walk and look at the gardens, and old home. Beautiful, and peaceful, and there are a few walks around you can follow the map. Just fun, to be outside.
