What a great place to go for a hike, or just a leisurely stroll. There are various trails to choose from. I've been going there, off & on, for years, and it has to be the best form of exercise I know, coupled with fresh air & awesome views.

Calming and relaxing overlooking False Bay. It's Sunday night summer concerts should not be missed - take a picnic!

Really a lot of walking short and long routes, go prepared with water as can get very hot on mountain, stunning and safe for families

What a great venue. Bring the kids and have a picnic, or walk up the paths for a fantastic nature experience and end it off with an ice cream at the coffee shop.

As locals, we often go to the Nature reserve for picnics. Take a basket with food (wine allowed as well), a couple of friends and a ball for the kids and relax under the huge trees while the kids entertain themselves for hours on the enormous stretch of grass just inside the reserve. Bread crumbs come in handy to feed the geese and ducks and if you're lucky, you'll see some "bontebokke" and tortoises as well since they often feed on the grass near the entrance. If you're kids like to get dirty, like mine do, be clever and take a spare change of clothes and a towel for back-up (mine walk in the stream and often land up in the shallow water). If you're interested in plants, there is a Herbarium(open weekdays 10am-4:30pm) and if walking is youre thing, there are several beautiful walking routes up the mountain for the fit and the not-so-fit. They also host summer concerts from November to March and at R40 a ticket is is practically for free. There is a small entrance fee per person and per vehicle, so take some cash. Since they also have a coffee shop/restaurant (I have not been, so can't rate it) and a gift shop as well as a plant nursery, you might want to take your wallet/purse with in any way.
