Description: Founded in 1700, Lourensford Estate has married its historic heritage with a vision to be at the forefront of modern wine technology and a leader amongst South African Wine producers. Owner & Executive Chef, Bjorn Guido's cooking career started at The Greenhouse at Cellars-Hohenort under chef Peter Templehoff. He then moved abroad and joined Babington House, part of the SOHO HOUSE group under the renowned Ronnie Bonetti of River Cafe London. After gaining experience abroad, he returned home and took up the role of Head Chef at The Franschhoek Kitchen on the Holden Manz Wine Estate. Food provenance and sustainability are core to Millhouse's philosophy. The eatery's contemporary barn-conversion interior puts a modern twist on classic elements, featuring a mix of leather banquette seating and reclaimed timber walls. Bjorn's aim was to create a neighbourhood feel where guests can relax and enjoy each other's company. Watch as food is prepared in the expansive open kitchen and Italian style pizza's are delivered fresh from the wood fired oven.

Been here for breakfast and dinner on a few occasions. Food and service always good. Pleasant atmosphere and amazing location! Had breakfast recently on 16th Jan, food was excellent and reasonably priced. Will go back again!

“Super Restaurant”

I can really recommend this place. I've been there now more than once, and i can still say it is great. The staff, service, is very good. And the food is stunning. I also love the decor.

“Super summer setting”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

Have just had the most wonderful dinner at the Millhouse kitchen.
It was the perfect summer night and our grandchildren loved the jungle gymn. The atmosphere was funky but homely and the service great. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals from pizza to springbok and the desserts were amazing with great coffee too. Even though you were in town you felt a million miles away from the hustle and bustle. Will definitely be our local favorite!!

“Vibey and homely ”
Reviewed December 16, 2013 via mobile

This hip and happening restaurant has a causal New York style feel with aromas sweeping out of the open kitchen. Food was delicious - especially chocolate brownie dessert! A must have:) would go back again but bookings are essential.

I went to the millhouse kitchen for a lovely dinner, started with cocktails on the front deck, on a beautiful evening. Then we went in for dinner, I had the springbok, which was a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it. service was great, and an all round perfect evening. Will definitely be coming back.
