Description: Founded in 1700, Lourensford Estate has married its historic heritage with a vision to be at the forefront of modern wine technology and a leader amongst South African Wine producers. Owner & Executive Chef, Bjorn Guido's cooking career started at The Greenhouse at Cellars-Hohenort under chef Peter Templehoff. He then moved abroad and joined Babington House, part of the SOHO HOUSE group under the renowned Ronnie Bonetti of River Cafe London. After gaining experience abroad, he returned home and took up the role of Head Chef at The Franschhoek Kitchen on the Holden Manz Wine Estate. Food provenance and sustainability are core to Millhouse's philosophy. The eatery's contemporary barn-conversion interior puts a modern twist on classic elements, featuring a mix of leather banquette seating and reclaimed timber walls. Bjorn's aim was to create a neighbourhood feel where guests can relax and enjoy each other's company. Watch as food is prepared in the expansive open kitchen and Italian style pizza's are delivered fresh from the wood fired oven.

6 of us visited the Millhouse kitchen on a Friday evening, having booked a few days previously. I had been for lunch but had not been there for some time and not in the evening. The venue looks very attractive in the evening with special lighting to enhance the mood. The staff were cheerful and friendly and the menu is small but has something for everyone. Two people had the risotto and said it was very tasty. I had the cob and the fish was moist and beautifully presented and the chips were divine! Everyone at the table wanted to try the chips - be warned you will have to share them! I had the trio of Gelato which was refreshing and truly delicious. They offer pizza and pasta as well as a good selection of meats and the service was attentive and professional. The decor is light and modern and you can see the kitchen staff busy preparing the food which adds to the buzz. Situated in Somerset West, the venue is in the beautiful Lourensford estate and definitely worth a visit.

We popped into this resturant for a quick lunch and were very impressed with the service, food and setting. You have to book as it is obviously very popular, but well worth a little effort.

The menu is fairly compact, but a good selection of plates and a nice touch is that they pair every meal with one of their wines. The wines are very good and reaonabley priced and you can buy by the glass, which is such a pleasure.

Would be very happy to go back their again!

Lovely spot in this prestige vinyard - very nice gardens , fountains , roses ,statues etc. Restaurant is casual but elegant .Food ranges from woodfired pizza to some complex top of the range dishes ( stuffed quail was amazing ) and everthing we had was superb -up to michelin standards .Waiters very good ,but service was rather slow as the waiters seemed to get called away a lot to restock glasses at the bar , get coffee cups from the back etc.

Am so tired of being disappointed with restaurents and paying a HUGE price on top but there is great hope .The Millhouse on Lourensford has over-delivered now on 3 separate occasions .
Wow! last night was stunning from the moment we arrived .Wonderful sincere service from everyone we dealt with . Great head of house and a busy but very jacked kitchen .Presentaion stated very clearly "EAT ME "!

A magnificent spread of starters devoured by my wife and self !

Truly memorable and you will see us lots !

food can be great, but if it is let down by poor service it takes away the flabvou! In this respect the Millhouse gets 10 out of 10. great food complemented by service that is quick, professional and pleasant. would recommend this to any one wanting a lite meal or a special occasion.
