“The food is a dream - not to be missed”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

Well, having read the "poor" and "terrible" reviews on this restaurant, I am not sure we went to the same place... I have eaten here 4 times in the last 6 months and loved every meal.

The setting is one of the most beautiful places you will ever eat - surrounded by the HH mountains, vineyards, views across False Bay and a peak all the way over to the back of Table Mountain. The new furniture on the roof terrace makes this a must visit for sundowners.

The waiting staff are extremely knowledgable and can explain each element of the dish to you and will recommend wine to accompany your food. The karan fillet of beef was one of the best pieces of meat I have ever had. And I didn't think the portions were that small, my other half who has a large appetite, was satisifed at the end of the meal. I think South Africans in general enjoy overly large portions so this would probably be a shock for them.

Yes, for South Africans I can imagine that it can be an expensive indulgence. The restaurant is quite often filled with foreigners which implies that it is on the pricey side. And the chef, sure, he's a little tempramental but he can temprament as much as he likes as long as he keeps feeding me like that.

“Second visit in 4 months and as good as ever!”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

Stunning location set in the hills above False Bay this excellent winery restaurant continues to set new standards for SA re stair ants. Stylish "nouvelle cuisine" excellent ingredients and presentation. The Waterkloof wines too are brilliant with the Syrah one of the best tasted. Efficient and friendly staff. Certainly worth the effort to go to Somerset West

“Divine”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

I have the pleasure of eating at many great restaurants, formal to informal. I contend this was one of the best overall experiences. We were visiting family in Cape Town, and my nephew, a chef, suggested we go there for dinner (six of us). First, the view is breath taking. We stared with wine around the wood burning fireplace and eventually made it to dinner. In order to be certain we didn't fall behind a larger group, the staff took our orders but held until just when it was the right timing. The staff was very polite and not intrusive. The food was nicely prepared and truly delicious. Now, if you want a big platter of food and chummy waiters, this isn't the place. But for a great meal and wonderful time, I would definitely come here. Finally, I was concerned the bill would be quite hight (four bottles of wine, six two course dinners with coffee). I was definitely pleased with the price. Quite reasonable!
