When you drive up to this restaurant in the evening, from the main road up the mountain you see a modern space like structure far a way on a hill top. When you have entered the place you find yourself in a gorgeously designed modern place with atmosphere. I am more a classical type of person, but this modernity I have appreciated very much. A big welcoming fireplace in the middle between the bar and the tables, great. The French chef succesfully convinced us in having the menu de dégustation, with wine pairing. The menu was delicious, each of the 6 dishes had many different tastes and was prepared carefully. The quantities (there was also an amuse bouche and a pre-dessert) were well-balanced and we left the table happy, satisfied but not too full. There is one thing to be improved, and that was the wine pairing. Two out of four wines didn't really match the dishes. The chef explained that he had a limited choice of wines, namely only those of the estate. That is a pity and doesn't do juistice in my opinion to his cooking skills. In my opinion the chef should also consider if he has to present icecream or sorbet on every dish. Is this his signature???
