Owner description: Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning until 12 noon. We are located on the western outskirts of Sedgefield at the turnoff to Sedgefield Island. An award winning Garden Route landmark we are not to be confused with the Scarab Craft Market to the far east of Engen Petrol Station or the Mosaic Flea Market across the road from Wild Oats. As a food market, our open times are limited due to the short shelf-life of many of our LOCALLY PRODUCED products which include: Free-range chicken, beef, pork and lamb, free-range eggs, multiple cheese, dairy and baked products including fresh gouda, cheddar, blue-cheeses... milk, fresh fish, fruits, free-range & organic vegetables in season, many traditional and exotic bottled goods, organic olives, berries, rusks, koeksisters, biltong & wors, famous artisan breads, award-winning cheesecakes and goats cheeses... and on and on and on. Also a fabulous range of hot-off-the-grill breakfasts, coffees, teas and fresh-squeeze juices and smoothies. FOOD HEAVEN! Come face-to-face with our local food producers every Saturday morning, come rain or shine.
Useful Information: Food available for purchase, Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities

Top tip for this market is get there early! The parking soon fills up (there is plenty though!) Head right through to the breakfast stalls- so tasty and very reasonably priced. Grab a seat under an umbrella and watch the hustle and bussle. After enjoying the food and great coffee, wander around the stalls picking up delicious local produce, a lot is organically grown. There is also lots of home made cakes, rusks, etc. Flower stalls, health foods, and soaps are worht a look at too.
Afterwards cross the car park and visit the scarab arts and crafts market for a lot of good quality souvenirs and clothing.

I have been vacationing in Sedgefield for over 20 year and the real highlight for a city slicker like myself is the Wild Oats Farmers Market.
From plants and wonderful fresh flowers to German cold meats and of course other meat , dairy products , wonderful breads, olives fresh fruit, vegetables and stunning cakes and savouries. Of course breakfast is a must and it is a pleasure to see the waste being recycled. We are heading off their in November again and I can't wait to enjoy this mouthwatering experience.

Someone recommended that we visit the market and we are delighted we did. What a terrific place. We had a pleasure of meeting Susan Garner, the organiser of the market. We wer amazed at the enterprising stall holders, we enjoyed having breakfast on the tree stumps and wish we could visit every Saturday as we have nothing like it near us in the US!

From the moment you step into Wild Oats the sights and smells entice you along the bark covered walkways. Fresh produce, beautifully made cakes and sweets, homemade soap, pies to die for, fish, the tastiest chicken and duck and so much more.

Stop off at the friendly Indian lady for the best potato and mung bean samoosas and their curry paste will make an amateur cook seem like a seasoned chef (excuse the pun). There's place for the kids to play, animals are welcome and lovely little logs seats and tables to enjoy your breakfast from all the different stalls.

Wild Oats opens at 07h30 until 12h00 and when you're finished browsing there, the Island Craft market and Scarab Market next door to Wild Oats has lots of stalls filled with local arts and crafts.
