Clean, romantic, beautiful, tranquil.Besides 2 encounters with giant rain spiders, it was relaxing and just what we needed as a getaway! One night was too short, didn't get to go on the walks. Will definitely return!!

Hi Nadine
I am pleased you loved the experience. Rain spiders are an unfortunate reality. They use their size as a self-defence mechanism. They aren't dangerous, they don't walk on a person, chase them, bite them and would prefer not to interact with us. But... they are scary looking, I guess 3-4cm in diameter. I wish I could pretend they do not exist. It is there home and I am sorry but there is nothing we can do about it. We did try once - against all principles to fumigate and it had no impact. We would need to kill the entire forest to ensure no spiders.
Regards

We loved our brief time staying in one of the treetop get-aways! The welcome was warm and the sanctuary was homey and comfortable with beautiful views! We highly recommend this once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Arrived late for check-in and since the place was located far away from everything (restaurants, shops etc.) we were expecting that the hotel might have some kind of restaurant serving dinner. They only had a small shop, and in the shop it was very little to eat apart from can-food and noodles. When we got to our hut the entrance was at ground-level (we were hoping for a ladder), and the place wasn't too clean either. The bedrooms and roof were made of fabric, and it got very cold after the sun went down. Luckily there were electric blankets in the beds. Would not recommend staying here during winter in South Africa. It is also quite expensive in comparison to other alternatives that are more exclusive. We paid R85 more for a 4* guest house by the beach that was amazing.

Hi, I am sorry you did not enjoy the stay. We are currently looking at upgrading our shop facilities, any ideas are welcome. We can't really stock perishables as the shop is only used occasionally, most guests bring their own food. I was thinking of trying frozen pre-cooked meals. I do try and have a variety of tinned, bottled and long-life food.
Access to all, bar one of the tree houses, is via a ramp. we are on a gorge so while the access point is low, the front of the tree house is high. That varies from about 2.5m to 9 meters, depending on the tree house. The other tree house is a flight of stairs.
Sorry again that it did not appeal to you. Cleanliness should never be a problem, we have recently replaced to old rooves. I will check on the cleanliness, it should always be great.
regards
Robyn

We went for a weekend to Teniqua Treetops and enjoyed it very much. We loved the peace and quiet, and the birdlife. The treehouse was very comfortable, and well equipped. The eco-toilet takes some getting used to. But an overall lovely stay.

Hi, I am pleased you enjoyed the stay. We do use eco-friendly, composting toilets and I know they are not what one is used to. While strange, they are a hygienic and environmentally correct way of dealing with waste. We have frequently debated taking them out and putting in water borne sewerage, but that causes huge damage to the forest floor and generates black water which would need to be processed. Also as the tree houses are often inaccessible, being in the indigenous forest we would not want to damage the forest further by building roads so a honeysucker machine could get to the septic tank to empty it. We wanted guests to really experience the forest without damaging it. I do appreciate your concerns though. Regards

This place was such an amazing discovery. The views are incredible, the accommodation is very comfortable, clean and tasteful, and if you feel the need Knysna and Plett are just a short drive away for a meal or a swim. We loved it here and will definitely be back - though I think next time we'll stay for longer and book more spacious accommodation. They honeymoon suite we stayed in (Moon over Milkwood) was lovely but started to feel a little cramped after three nights. (The only small complaint we had was that the eco-friendly loos ponged a bit, and while this didn't hugely compromise out enjoyment, it was a bit ick.)

Hi, thanks for your comments, I do appreciate the tree houses are not huge, we try and minimize their footprint while making them comfortable, but I agree the family ones give that much more space than the honeymoon ones.

This was my second visit, and as enjoyable as the first ~ the ideal place to soak up nature and recharge your batteries! Highly recommended. Some facilities and the river hiking trail need some maintenance though.

Hi Leonie, I appreciate your comment. We are currently engaging in a maintenance program. At present we are upgrading the arrival area. We are separating the road and entrance from the entertainment area. So we are busy building a new road, and then we will lift the old road and extend the lawns over that area, and fence it making it more private and keep kids off the road. We have also ordered new rooves. So Gorge View and Greenbeard are both getting a new roof. Then I want to move the toilets and extend the dining area in the playroom... so changes and improvements are busy happening. Unfortunately it does still take time

Robyn
