“When there is no competition, you're no. 1...”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Stopped on way to Franschhoeck. Place seems to be extremely popular and loaded and full parking space and review I had read in my guide beforheand plus my hungry stomach convinced me to stop. Must be due to limit of choice because it can't be the food. Food tasted like pre-prepared micro wave food. Also took more than 35 minutes from order to food delivery. I was sitting close to entry to restrooms in back and at times I smelled strange odours. When going to Men's room myself I found out why-no ceiling on bathroom area helping to nicely diffuse all smells across the restaurabt. Yummy!!

Thank You for your review, we strive to always give our clients a nice casual dining experience, I am very sorry that your experience was not such. Thank You for advise on perhaps extending the walls of the toliets as you our the first client to mention this "problem". We normally receive great feedback on the cleanliness of our bathrooms & on our comprehensive menu & the quality of our food. I hope that the next time you are in our valley, you give us another chance to redeem our good name.

“Bourbon burgers”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

Good portions, and good value, clearly popular with locals and visitors. As it is on the main highway it can be noisy with passing transporters.

Thank-You for taking the time to review our restaurant, the road is quite busy where the restaurant is situated and I apologise for the noise of the passing traffic. Im very glad you enjoyed your time with us and hope to see you on your next trip through Robertson.

“Our Local”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

We treat Bourbon Street as our local. There are classier restaurants in the neighbourhood, but, if you want honest good food this is the place to go. It is excellent value for money and the food is very good, although I would suggest that their portions are too much on the generous side. The service is excellent throughout and the position on Voortreker Street is most attractive. We have never had a bad meal there, never had bad service and keep going back for simple good food. Only minor criticism is that they could be braver with chaning the menu slightly more often, slimming it down slightly and, perhaps, having a Specials' Board.

“Nothing special”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

Mediocre food, seemed to have been pre-prepared and then microwaved. We got there at about 8.45 on a Tuesday evening, so maybe the fact that they were quietening down made a difference, and the kitchen had lost interest.

“nice place, lots of food, quality of food is very good”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

the title of this review basically states it all.

i ate here on three occasions... and was impressed by the service and the general atmosphere the restaurant provided. the restaurant boasted quite a few environments (be it a date, friends or family, younglings, etc.) and did it very well. it's really a restaurant for everyone, and you won't be disturbed by any others.

price was also very reasonable, coming into the country with USD dollars (so no problem from a tourist's perspective). and the food was plentiful. i ordered from the steak menu on two occasions, and then a huge burger on the other occasions. i couldn't finish the large burger, obviously (it was decently tasteful, however), and the two steaks were very well grilled and tasted very good. i easily was full by the end of both steaks.

i can't really say anything bad about this restaurant. the only thing i can really think of, is that that huge burger i ordered wasn't as tasteful as i expected. it was quite bland... so i would urge you to stay away from it. hehe.

the locals in this area do say this is the best restaurant in Robertson (apparently many go out of business, and new ones spring up in this area - this one seemed to stand the test of time). so i would urge you to definitely eat here if you're in the area.

oh, and on a last note... i ate here for my birthday twice (lunch & dinner). they actually celebrate it incredibly well, and give you a complimentary gift.
