“Friendly, relaxed and tasty”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

We stopped here after crossing the mountain pass from Oudtshoorn, and we were very glad we did! the Lazy Lizard is welcoming and friendly, with some very good home cooked food and bakery goods.

We were travelling with a baby on solids, and got him their chicken soup. If you are travelling with a child we'd recommend the soup, or if you're not, then we'd probably still recommend the soup which was delicious.

Ensure you save some room for the excellent fresh deserts (i had to make room after seeing the fresh apple pie brought out), or even just stop for cake (also fresh and delicious looking) and a milkshake.

Only minor drag is they don't accept cards so you'll need cash (there is an ATM in town)

“Great and so friendly”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

We arrived in Prince Albert late on a Saturday evening an not only was the Lazy Lizard still open, they had delicious home made bread, all sorts of pickles and cheese that we bought for our dinner. We needed tomatoes and butter and although they don't sell those, they gave us theirs from their kitchen. The following day we went back for apple pie and scones - delicious and such friendly service.

“Good breakfast in attractive surroundings.”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

A very attractive place - both inside and out. Delicious, homemade food which you can eat inside, outside on the stoop or in the adjacent gardens. When we were there a group of Scrabble players were engrossed in a game: it seems to be a place to linger in.

“Refreshed and Relaxed”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

We stopped by for lunch on our first day in Prince Albert and went back twice after. The service was exceptional. So friendly. Fresh lemonade and iced tea on a 40 degree day were just what we needed. Great sandwiches. Relaxed atmosphere with other diners playing scrabble and on their computers taking advantage of one of the few places in town with wifi. Locally produced relishes, olives and honey on the shelves and incredible dairy products from Gay's Dairy were available for purchase. We picked up some of these items and some Lazy Lizard homemade ciabatta with our morning latte so we could have lunch at home later that day.
