“Great hotel in a nice location”
Reviewed June 5, 2012

Pleasant room (even though looking at the hill at the back) with balcony. Restaurant was good, enjoyed the pool, good service and the surrounding area.

i would certainly recommend this hotel to other travellers. i will most certainly stay there again.
i love the location, the rooms are lovely, the staff are great and the food... well, it is the best calamari in cape town! as an old hout bay local, i just loved the feel of being at home again.
i stayed there with my daughter some weeks ago and we both enjoyed the visit.

Chapmans Peak hotel is a lovely place. What to start with ? The room ? Very cosy, contemporary, with a really nice view over Hout Bay beach.. The restaurant ? Simply the best of seafood, in particular the best calamaris in town (as it is usually described !), and also the lobster.. And, as we are french, we consider the wine part very seriously, and we recommend the Chenin Blanc with seafood.. The location ? Chapmans Peak Drive is at your feet, so it's easy to reach (with your own car, no public transport) the wine region (Stellenbosch, via Simon Town) and Cape Point..

Room Tip: Of course the best rooms are those with sea-view.

I travel to Cape Town on business quite often and, after experiencing other venues in the past, now always book in at Chapmans Peak Hotel.
Its location away from the CBD suits me in that Hout Bay has a tranquil, friendly environment in which to unwind after a busy day.
I have stayed in both the old & new sections of the hotel which each have their own special appeal to me.
Their room rates are very reasonable bearing in mind the many factors I take into account when away on business - for me this place has it all !

Room Tip: Ask for a sea facing room - its well worth a bit extra Rooms 1 & 11 are the best in the older s...

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. New large and chic rooms, a great shower, big bathroom and a fantastic balcony that had views that stunned, again and again, as it looked across Hout Bay. Chapmans Peak is part of an older hotel, which has a very popular seafood restaurant. We dined there with friends on second night. Great food. The breakfast were the best, quality food and consistently great service... I would recommend this hotel to any business or leisure traveller.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, there are some rooms that face the mountains.

would highly recommend this hotel - great location right on the beach with world class views over hout bay - spent a lot of time on the balcony soaking in the views. rooms were fantastic - spacious, comfortable and very clean. loved the design with the integrated bathroom. Definitely recommended.

Room Tip: go for the superior with sea views in the new wing - well worth the upgrade.

We were spoilt rotten on Sunday night. After a hectic week, we decided to take a breather and treat ourselves to dinner and a night at the Chapman’s Peak Hotel in Hout Bay. Many of us have lovely memories of the old hotel, which is still there, and the great seafood they serve on the terrace, but they have built on a super modern addition whose rooms are very tasteful and cleanly luxurious, all with wonderful views across Hout Bay beach and bay towards the Sentinel mountain and the harbour. Glass doors to the balcony completely block off any traffic noise and you sleep in great comfort. We started with a bottle of wine and dinner on the terrace. Fiery hot Peri peri chicken livers and calamari with chorizo were our starters, followed by 5 fat sardines with very crisp chips for John and prawns and calamari and a salad for Lynne. The food is freshly cooked and has always been of a very high standard. We ordered Adi Badenhorst’s lovely rich, fruity and crisp Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2011, very reasonably priced at R99. As we were not going far, we were tempted by the chocolate tart and the crème brulée before tottering off to bed for a reasonably early night. Dinner came to R530 including a contribution for our great waiter Jethro. Breakfast in the dining room the next morning was a sumptuous spread of everything you could possibly want - you can order a full English breakfast or variations on that theme - which is freshly cooked for you. If the weather is fine, you can have it on the terrace. John stuck to his usual fruit and muesli, Lynne had a cheese omelette and neither of us could resist the freshly baked croissants with our very good black coffee. If you want to spoil your partner, book here for a very special night away. We sneaked a peek one the two amazing penthouse suites on the top floor and had a look at the superb swimming pool built into the rocks above the road, with a spectacular view across the bay. We then had a short walk on the beach, after which it was home and back to mounds of work for us.
