The management of Seaclife Lodge realy "walked the extra mile" to accomodate us on a Saturday afternoon when the the original booking at another venue did not work out.
On behalf of the Oosthuizen family I would like to mention during our stay at this lodge it is wonderfull to experience this at venue it inot just about money but more about doing something for your fellow citizens.Once again thanks for your hospitality and the neatness of your lodge.

I love Hout Bay and Seacliffe Lodge is perfectly positioned to enable you to totally relax in a safe and beautiful environment, moments from the beach. We were three girls and was lovely to be able to stroll down the beach in the day and restaurants of an evening.

We shared the spacious family room overlooking the harbour.

Sugne and her family could not have done any more for us and allowed us to use their swimming pool.

Value for money and top quality service.

We stayed three adults and one infant for five nights in the self-catering unit called Dolphin. Originally our plan was to share apartment the first two nights (as it was fully booked) and then also rent the other self-catering unit. However, after seeing Dolphin we realized it had all we needed to stay there all four of us. A nice baby cot was put in the bedroom and we all slept very well.
The kitchen had all the equipment we needed to make our own meals which we bought from the Spar grocery store , but it was also walking distance to some great restaurants. We can recommend the greek restaurant Spiro´s.

We knew before booking that the self-catering units are separate from the hotel and therefore not included in the 4-star rating, but regarding the service we got it could as well have the same rating as the hotel. The staff changed towels, made the beds and even washed up the dishes which we had certainly not expected in a self-catering. Suegne, the owner, also offered us a nice breakfast while waiting for our tour guide the first morning. It actually felt more like a large family having breakfast than an impersonal hotel breakfast room.

The only reason for not giving it the Excellent rating is that the hotel itself is probably even better. But as a self-catering, and especially with the service we got, we consider it a good value for the money and can highly recommend anyone to stay there.

We had the misfortune of staying in this establishment in a self catering unit in December 2012. It advertises itself as a four star luxury guesthouse but if you stay in the self catering units nothing can be further from the truth. It can get very hot in the summer months in this area and the unit is stiflingly hot with no air conditioning and windows on one side only so there is no way to create a cool draught through the unit. When I expressed my dissappointment to the owner she became unbelievably rude and aggressive and saw no reason for any unhappiness. In fact she suggested that it is all my own fault for booking the cheaper self catering unit and shamelessly suggested I pay double the price for a more luxurious unit and the facilities I thought I would have access to anyway. She asked what else I expected from booking the cheaper self catering units? In an amazing gesture of goodwill we received a grudging written offer a day and a half later to use the guest house pool. So, to spare anyone else from the misfortune and so we are all clear, this is what you will get for your "cheaper" rate:

- An owner with no idea how to handle an unhappy guest courteously
-A unit that has absolutely nothing to do with the guesthouse. It is built in the back on a separate property and you will have no access to any of the facilities of the guesthouse, no pool, no beauty salon, no garden, no terrace, no outside seating area
-A view of bare brick walls and the back of the guesthouse. You will be looked down onto by guests in the guesthouse, so you will have no privacy
-the unit is not part of the guesthouse and opens directly onto the street. To increase security, they have added security gates on the door and windows, making it feel like a jail
-A main bedroom with a small double bed covered with a cheap foam mattress and an extra bunkbed in the lounge/dining area with broken slats and cheap foam mattresses
-Tatty, scuffed and poorly maintained fittings - bathroom tap came off in my hand, cracked tiles and old cupboards
-no safety deposit box for valuables
-No niceties like soap in the bathroom, washing up liquid in the kitchen etc
-only three government sponsored channels on television and one free-to-air channel with poor, sporadic reception
-Shower in which the water mixers don't work properly. your shower will be hot or cold, nothing in between and no one else can use the water while you are showering

So in the evenings when you hoped to sit outside on the terrace, enjoying a glass of wine and the advertised view, you'll be forced to go out or sit in a stiflingly hot hole with nothing to do. This is blatantly misleading advertising, so do yourself a huge favour and go somewhere else!

A basic law in physics is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When the guest started ranting and raving to the extent that the neighbours across the road came out of their house to see what was happening, therefore my reaction. Courtesy is a two way street!

The website clearly states that the 2 self catering units are sepperate and behind the 4 star graded guesthouse and that they are not graded.

Further inaccurasies are the following:-
* All facilities of the guest hose are available to self catering guests
* Security is not negotiable
* The main bedroom has a DOUBLE bed with an innerspring matress
* As a self catering unit, guest supply their own niceties
* TV also the M-net channel. I the reception was sporadic it was due to the transmission

What the guest mentions the heat in the area she fails to also mention that Cape Town had the worst heat wave in a decade at the time of their visit.

One only needs to read the reviews of other guests and look at the ratings to see that the guest in question is a total exception.
