We have just returned from a four week stay in Ivy. This was our sixth visit to The Tarragon and we have already booked for next year. The extensive gardens continue to bloom, and the excellent pool was a delight , especially in the late afternoon after a hot day out at one of the local vineyards. The staff looked after us very well and Mark is always on hand if you need him.
Cape Town is only a brief and spectacular journey away and Table Mountain, Robben Island and Cape Point are easily accessible. The Tarragon is equally suitable for couples, adult groups or families.

This small and select self-catering group of 5 cottages is so perfect we would never wish to go anywhere else- after 7 visits.
Try visiting in September and October to see the carpets of wild flowers on both the West and South coasts. memorable !

Room Tip: All cottages are lovely .and really well equipped.

Our adult family group spent six nights here at the beginning of Feb. Thyme was the only cottage available, even though we booked quite a long time in advance. It's spacious accommodation suited us well.
Mark and Julia - the owners, do not live on-site but Mark is great and is a phone call/text away, if you need him.
Thyme does have an unconventional layout but we did know this before booking. None of the three bedrooms link directly to the living area, so when you get up in the morning to make a cuppa, you have to go outside to access the kitchen.
Although the cottages are quite close to each other, they are all very private. It was very peaceful - we often had the pool area to ourselves.
We liked the fact that the cottages were serviced daily and that there was a dishwasher. The laundry facilities are useful too.
Security is good. The restaurants /wineries of Constantia are close by.

After six nights at the Tarragon, ( unfortunately couldn't get in for longer) we felt we had found a very special place. This was our 12th visit to beautiful South Africa, and we have stayed in lots of nice places but the Tarragon is certainly one of the very best self catering accommodations. The cottages are all very individual, self contained and beautifully looked after by Mark and his cheerful staff. It has a peaceful location and wonderful views. We have already booked again for 2014.

We stayed 5 nights in Saffron (one bedded) Cottage at the Tarragon in January and it was marvelous. Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and everything worked! Very stylish accommodation which felt very spacious & decorated with a mix of European and African items. We had a private terrace outside with dining area, barbecue & sun loungers where birds visited including a Sunbird. Down a few steps were the very pretty gardens, ample and well padded sun loungers and a spotlessly clean swimming pool. Mark and Julia re very helpful but discreet. We were certainly grateful to Mark for sorting us out when we locked the keys in the car (despite having to go to his son's sports match) and later when I set the alarm off..... Nearby there is a Spar where you can pick up food & wine for dinner, a little further is a Pick&Pay (anther larger supermarket). Hout Bay itself is lovely, it has a working harbour where you can get fresh fish & chips and it's a place that's good for wondering around. And the very friendly ladies who clean the property also do washing and ironing for a very modest fee. As we traveled round S Africa we often wished that we could have another Tarragon further west! It was a highlight of our holiday. If (hopefully when) we return to S Africa we'll try to stay longer at the Tarragon, it is such a lovely relaxing place to start. I notice others return too, the family we met when we were there were on their 3rd visit!

Room Tip: All the cottages are private and not overlooked. Simply pick the right size. Normally we would pic...

We stayed at the Tarragon for 10 days in November/December 2012 and we could not rate it highly enough. The setting is perfect, within easy reach of Cape Town and all that the Cape has to offer. The cottages are excellent and all set within fabulous grounds. We had a great time and cannot wait to return! The perfect place to stay in the Cape Town area.

We've recently returned from the perfect winter sun family holiday staying at the Silverweed cottage. All beautifully equipped and complete with cot and high chair etc, Mark couldn't have been more helpful at recommending places and also offering us the use of the pool at the main Tarragon complex. We've already booked for next year!
