There are lots of informal traders selling items from sea shells to shark teeth. One may find it interesting to watch the fishing boats coming in and the boats contents being bargained over. A resident attraction is the enormous male seal that a local hand feeds, for a small monetary contribution he will entice the seal to do all sorts of antics. The man offers visitors a piece of fish to feed the seal too! Remember though that this is a wild animal and that you do so at your own risk. There are good eating establishments in a walking distance.

“Don't think twice, just go”
Reviewed September 23, 2013 via mobile

After a beautiful Sunday drive to get to Hout Bay, we found this almost hidden indoor market. I could stay there all day ! Not your usual market junk, but great quality food, music, devine honey, coffee, beautiful teapots, beer, fresh juices & tarts, it just doesn't stop. Walking outside you are met with a full view of Hout Bay and the mountain backdrop. Heavenly

“Go to where the local go to”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

First I want to say those who are you are checking this place means you are all lucky, as this place is not really a tourist attraction among the tons of famous places in Cape Town, but it's such a cool place to be.

I wouldn't even know this place if it's not by my friend, and I instantly liked this place the second I walked in.

You can find not only the local crafts and souvenirs but also some very trendy items here, and everything is so well made, totally different from the things you can find from Green Market or any other small markets. But I guess the price is also higher too here. Another highlight is the food here, there are is a big food court and you can try a lot of different food here, and they all taste amazing deciduous, I tried the Mexican food and a bunch of other food, I wish I could have a bigger stomach to try more! So if you are a good lover you should visit this place.

There is also a live music stage, and a band plays Africa music there. It's a great experience just to hold a glass of beer, listen to the music and stroll around to check the different stores. I would highly recommend you to go!
