Description: The restaurant is a local institution, renowned worldwide for the best Calamari in Cape Town, with a popular sun-drenched terrace overlooking the bay and mountains. Calamari at the Chapmans Peak was voted as "one of top 20 things to do in Cape Town".It’s the ideal location for those lingering sunsets and balmy evenings. A sun-drenched verandah boasting spectacular views of the bay offers an alternative eating venue for those wishing to dine Al fresco. And in those winter months, it’s one of few places in the Cape with fireplaces (dating back 100yrs)

“Stunning setting, good service, delicious food”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

The weather was one of those almost perfect winter days that happen in Cape Town on rare occasions, so we sat outside for a bite to eat. The greeting at the entrance was warm and the waiter was polite, prompt and jovial and also gave good advice. I had a Rump Espitada and my wife had a Sirloin, and both were done perfectly medium rare. The sauce that came with the Espitada was equally delicious. The prices for the dishes were reasonable – probably on the upper end of the average range; but still good value for money. All-in-all, it is definitely a place that I would go back to – especially if the weather is fair enough to sit outside.

“Unassuming Restaurant is a Rare Find”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

Years ago we were introduced to this delightful old restaurant that has stood the test of time. The seafood platter and in particular the calamari is excellent. Service is always good. This unassuming restaurant has definitely stood the test of time. Probably the best seafood restaurant in Hout Bay. Don't bother with all the dirty establishments at Fisherman's Warf. Try this restaurant. You will be pleasantly surprised. Very good food at reasonable prices. Highly recommended. Kenneth & Petra Fisher.

“Best Calamari in town!”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

The food is always good here, but we keep on going back again & again for the calamari which is definitely the best in town! Service has improved over the years with food coming out nice & quick. Awesome location with views of the Bay, mountains & beach.

“Good Food, Showdy Service”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We really enjoyed the food. The grumpy attitude from elderly male head waiter was a major let down. Apart from this bad attitude, this is a great restaurant.

“As advertised”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

They claim the best calamari in SA and i'll have to agree, plus add anywhere else. Bad weather meant we had the place almost to ourselves. Drinking an excellent SA Sauvignon Blanc in front of the fireplace with calamari and prawns - wow.
