On the recommendation of friends who live here we visited Katima mid-week for dinner - the restaurant was busy but they managed to fit us in. You need to book for Friday and Saturday evenings. Great selection of food to choose from - it's primarily a Thai restaurant but there is also Chinese and Japanese section to the menu. We stuck to the thai food - but it all looked lovely. Complemented by a very comprehensive wine list (and cocktail list) with wines to suit every pocket and palate. Includes imported wines - but why would you? Great ambience, excellent attentive service and all at (from a UK point of view) extremely good prices.
I went here with my wife for a romantic dinner and we loved our evening at Kitima.
The food was amazing, especially the duck. They serve a variety of non-alcoholic cocktails which was a bonus. The bar is a great place for a pre-dinner drink.
Attention all the foodies out there!
If you are in Hout Bay then you need to visit this hidden gem. It is one of the best restaurants we have visited in Cape Town. Katima serves some of the finest dishes and provides excellent service. We will definitely be back!
Definitely one of Cape Town's best restaurants. The setting is gorgeous and the staff really efficient. The food is just sublime. The best way to try ALL the food is their Sunday brunches where you get to sample the entire menu. Our kids had carte blanche of a dessert buffet which they loved. The crispy duck, japanese soup, and sushi were just a tip of the iceberg but managed to remain in my taste bud memory for days. They also have a bar area which is fantastic for birthday celebrations - we have booked it many times. They bring in platters of food and you have your own private area. Their cocktails are the only thing that weren't 100%, but we switched to the lovely selection of wines on their menu. The table for 2 at the door and the lovely story that goes with it - add charm to the already beautiful restaurant. Would recommend Kitima to everyone.
