Description: Between 1835 and 1849 the Kronendal Farm was owned by Sir William Josias Cloete. Legend has it that the homestead is haunted by his daughter Elsa Cloete who died of a broken heart after being forbidden to marry her soldier lover. Kitima still sets and serves a table for Elsa with samples from the menu to appease Elsa's spirit. Welcome to Kitima restaurant where oriental elegance and hospitality meet the unpretentious grace and charm of Africa. Our authentic Thai and Asian Fusion cuisine, prepared by our Thai chefs will carry you to a world of exotic spices, perfumes and all that's precious and exotic. Various dining option are available from our private lover's room seating 2-6 persons, our VIP room seating up to 12 persons, our Temple and Bangkok rooms as well as the Raya lounge for cocktails, drinks, snacks or even dinner to share. Kitima exudes all the splendour of a traditional Cape Dutch homestead with yellowwood ceilings, wooden floors combined with modern Asian artefacts and cuisine. Our cocktail list is extensive and features a number of award winners that are both stunning in taste and appeal. The restaurant has the addition of the garden and the Raya Terrace which are unique covered areas that are available, however these are weather permitting. We invite you to have a taste of true Thai cuisine in a traditional and modernised South African homestead.

I've always heard fantastic things about Kitima but never really had the chance to visit.this was a Sunday buffet and that alone doesn't always fill me with confidence but what a surprise I received as soon as I set foot into the restaurant! A quick perusal through the wonderful dishes on offer and my dad and I gave each other that look where we meant business! Loved the dim sum and they even seared the tuna at my request. The service was very good and we left extremely satisfied. It could be viewed as pricey (R235 pp) but it is worth every cent and I wish that more locals would come out to have a really excellent dining experience

“Wonderful food!”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel host. Even without a reservation (which you normally should make) we got a nice table. This was one of the best thai food I had. The staff was friendly, the interior beautiful.

“An amazing Thai restaurant in an old mansion”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

It was surprising when our friends told us we would eat Thai in Hout Bay a bit far away from the main city.
The place is set up in an old mansion with two bars, one indoor near the entrance, one outdoor which was more fun.
Dinning is spread over 4 dinner rooms and the service is excellent. Do not forget to book your table as it was full when we went.
An excellent and spicy Tom Yam soup to start followed by a roast duck and a Thai fish curry.
Best place to dine with a group of friends.

“Outstanding”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Just to endorse the accolades. Outstanding food, menu and service in a beautiful historic building and tasteful, elegant setting, at very reasonable prices. The coastal road from Cape Town (30 minutes) is arguably unrivalled, no matter how often you do it. Make it part of the outing, if possible in daylight, ideally around sunset. Parking is available on or near the premises.

“What a vibe!”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Without question, the best Thai food we have eaten outside of Thailand. If you like a 'Buddha bar' style ambience, with Asian-acid-jazz and interesting decor, this is the place for you. Great cocktails and food, with service to match. We'd recommend booking a table though as it was very busy - we sat in the bar area, which was fine, but the decor indoors is worth booking for...
