Description: Between 1835 and 1849 the Kronendal Farm was owned by Sir William Josias Cloete. Legend has it that the homestead is haunted by his daughter Elsa Cloete who died of a broken heart after being forbidden to marry her soldier lover. Kitima still sets and serves a table for Elsa with samples from the menu to appease Elsa's spirit. Welcome to Kitima restaurant where oriental elegance and hospitality meet the unpretentious grace and charm of Africa. Our authentic Thai and Asian Fusion cuisine, prepared by our Thai chefs will carry you to a world of exotic spices, perfumes and all that’s precious and exotic. Various dining option are available from our private lover’s room seating 2-6 persons, our VIP room seating up to 12 persons, our Temple and Bangkok rooms as well as the Raya lounge for cocktails, drinks, snacks or even dinner to share. Kitima exudes all the splendour of a traditional Cape Dutch homestead with yellowwood ceilings, wooden floors combined with modern Asian artefacts and cuisine. Our cocktail list is extensive and features a number of award winners that are both stunning in taste and appeal. The restaurant has the addition of the garden and the Raya Terrace which are unique covered areas that are available, however these are weather permitting. We invite you to have a taste of true Thai cuisine in a traditional and modernised South African homestead.

While the welcome can be a little frosty once installed at the bar or at your table you will be looked after by warm, enthusiastic and importantly knowledgeable people. The food is brilliant and the atmosphere great.

I recently had dinner at Katima Restaurant in "Hout Bay" it was a perfect evening . Katima's food was delicious and the meal was well served by the waiters. I have eaten at many restaurants in Cape Town and I rate Katima as one of the top place's to eat in Cape Town. Hi highly recommend this Restaurant.
It is a very popular Restaurant so booking is essential.

Dinner at Kitima with friends - start with cocktails at the bar, or go straight to your table and have cocktails there. Convivial yet elegant dining in an historic manor house, the interior of which as been decorated in warm tones of shabby chic and more traditional decor. Tables have crisp white cloths and lots of glassware.
The menu is extensive and one is literally spoiled for choice. Mostly Thai, there are also some excellent Dim Sum and Chinese offerings and what looked like very good sushi. Start with an array of tasty appetizers and share - this is, after all, what Thai food is all about - sharing and tasting. And everything we ordered was well worth it. The roast duck with mango sauce was succulent and tender and perfectly cooked. The Angry Beef was exactly as my husband had ordered it - "slightly irritated". The Raya Rolls (spring rolls filled with chocoalate and served with ice cream) were heavenly. Our guests were more than happy with their choices and wondered why they didn't dine at Kitima more often.
There is a good and substantial wine list which includes a very good selection of wine by the glass.
Service is warm, friendly and knowledgeable - though we did have a waiter given to the occasional smirk.
This is a popular restaurant and booking is advisable. I look forward to returning.

Excellent.... Great food, great service, detailed, absolutely amazing. Never had a bad experience. Tip - walk in just after 7pm ask to be seated in the bar for drinks and have dinner there. Relaxed. If you looking to be alone book in advance for rest of restaurant. Fills up quickly.
