We decided to visit Cape Town at the last minute. We looked at a few places on booking.com and having gone to view some of them, the pictures and places did not match up. In most cases it was dissapointing, Dreamhouse guesthouse however DID NOT DISSAPOINT!!!

We went to the Dreamhouse and was welcomed by the owner Ivanka, which was very warm an friendly. She gave us an option of two rooms that were available, we decided on the Red Suite. The room was spacious with beautiful views and a hammock on the balcony where you can relax and enjoy the views. Since it was winter there was a fire going in the living area, with a comfy couch and lots of books to read should you choose to relax there. Breakfast was such a treat. The tables were beautifully set and decorated and there were more than enough to eat, starting with yoghurt and a fresh fruit salad, a selection of cold meats and cheeses and a bread basket of various breads including banana bread (yum). After all of that we were still given the option of a warm breakfast freshly cooked for us.

The garden is beautiful featuring a koi pond, a little aviary and many private little corners where you can relax and just admire all the views and beauty that surrounds you. The location is great, as it's only 20mins away from Cape Town central and a few minutes from Houtbay harbor. We could sadly only stay one night, but will defenitley be returning for a longer stay.

Room Tip: The red suite was really great. Spacious, beautiful views and your own balcony.

Wow what a fantastic guest house.
On arrival we were greeted by the owner Ivanka who was elegant ,professional and charming.
She introduced us to Anna her manager who greeted us with a smile and a very warm welcome.
She had a good sense of humour and instantly made us feel relaxed and at home .
We were shown to our car parking area which was right outside our room and ample for our large car. We were kindly offered complimentary drinks on arrival and given all the information required for our stay for exampl free wi-fi codes and information on local restaurants.
Our room was large and comfortable , with all the modern facilities required during our stay. and best of all , the most stunning views from our bed and balcony
Our breakfast on the 3 mornings of our stay was outstanding. we have stayed in many fine 5 star world class hotels and I would honestly stay this breakfast is amoungst the best and freshest I have ever had. I was offered cooked breakfast to order I selected 2 x fried eggs and 3 slices of bacon. The eggs were cooked to the highest standard as one would expect from an experienced chef , the egg was crispy on the bottom and soft on the top and the bacon was crispy , just how I would expect in a top class facility .
What a fantastic stay, thank you so much Ivanka and Anna , we will be back in the near future.

A few problems plague this otherwise lovely guesthouse.
1. Breakfast was a disaster. Eggs and bacon were burnt. A R19.95 breakfast from Spur is 100 times better. Only had breakfast the first morning (out of 4) we were there. On the other mornings we PAID for breakfast at restaurants.
2. Off street parking is a massive problem which was not indicated to me beforehand (if I had known I would have never opted to stay at Dreamhouse as I insist on secure parking for my vehicle). Parking inside the premises is limited and yet the owners take up most of the parking space forcing guests to park on the street. If you do decide to squeeze into the very congested parking, you will have serious problems reversing out as their is a very steep uphill driveway, and you may be woken up to move your car out of the way to allow other guests to leave.
3. On Saturday night (at about 18:00) we wanted to ask for a plaster for my wife, and NOBODY was available. I went into the main house and NOBODY was around. Not a soul.
Other than the problems mentioned above it was a nice place to stay....but I would NEVER go back! There are just too many other better guesthouses which are cheaper and offer more. I foolishly thought that paying more would at the very least mean the basics (breakfast and parking) would be done right. Lesson learnt.
Obviously I didn't make our problems (other than the parking) known to the owners/managers when I was there, as my wife did not want a confrontation or hard feelings during our stay. We were on holiday and simply wanted to relax.

Yet another time, we returned to this outstanding location near Capetown, which offers stunning views, lovely rooms, great hospitality, breakfast at it's finest (actually brunch) and a management which is able and willing to help in nearly every aspect. Ivanka, Anne and Luis are always available with their helpful hints on things to do, where to go, what to try, etc. Want to celebrate something or get married, need a SIM card, find a great restaurant, etc., etc. - Ivanka will arrange this for you. One really feels at home and we will certainly come back on our next trip. It is the perfect location to start and end any trips to South Africa when flying into Capetown.

Dear Otti S,

our guests’ satisfaction is what motivates our team to keep on providing outstanding service and offering such personal attention to our guests. So thank you very much for the time commenting here on Tripadvisor and sharing your impressions with other people.
Indeed, we also organize weddings if we have guests requesting to get married. Spontaneous or planned in advance – you are most welcome to spend the most important day of your life at the DREAMHOUSE.

So all the best for you and hopefully we will get the chance to welcome you back as soon as possible.

Ivanka

We spent four nights at the Dreamhouse and it was superb in all ways. Very friendly management and staff, Anna was the uniquie combination of being a proffesionell and yet very personal. Great breakfasts and with a beautiful view over Hout Bay. The layout of the hotel and its surroundings was extraordinary, the garden and the pool area fantastic. We enjoyed every minute. The only bad thing I can recall was the sound of the TV, but who looks at TV :-)

The only drawback is the location, you need a car to get to Hout Bay or Cape Town, but that counts for all B&B like this. If you like to hang around at pubs/restaurants/etc the whole night and wish to walk home in a few minutes, this is not for you. On the other hand, a taxi is less than R80 (from Hout Bay) and the rate for the rooms is lower than in the city.

If I ever will come back to Cape Town/Hout Bay Dreamhouse will be my choice!

Dear BjarneLilliendahl,

thanks for your stay with us and the time you spent on this entry. We are very happy that you enjoyed your time at the DREAMHOUSE.
Hout Bay is a small and quiet village, which is close to Cape Town. It is the perfect place to get away from the busy city life. A car is necessary to be able to explore Cape Town and surroundings. So if you need a place to relax and to be spoiled, the DREAMHOUSE is the perfect choice for you.

Hope to see you again,

Ivanka
