We were the only guests pre season but felt totally safe and at home
John & Russel were fantastic hosts and very helpfull
Only negative, they missed the trick with leaving out underfloor heating in the bathroom. (Maybe not needed in the summer)
Keep up the good work and I am sure we will revisit

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Ahsbourne Guest house. We were warmly welcomed and our room was large and spacious, with a very comfy bed. The breakfast was lovely. Overall, we would recommend a stay at the Ashbourne Guest House for a bit more of a personal touch than perhaps you would receive from a hotel in Franschhoek.

Ashbourne House was a perfect choice for our two day introduction to Franschhoek. The rooms were well-designed with every convenience, including heated bathroom floors which were quite welcome during our cool weather visit. The location is one block off the main road, far enough away to be restful yet close enough to walk to restaurants, shops and several wineries. A nice breakfast was served, and the pool area looked very inviting and would be welcome when the weather was warmer. Host John gave us great advice for dining, winery visits and walking routes. We couldn't have asked for more.

Spent two nights here last week and we were not disappointed in the least. Our welcome was generous and nothing was too much trouble for Russell who is the best host I have come across. Upon our request arranged a massage with very little notice, dinner reservation and were served the most scrumptious breakfast daily. His aim was to please the guests at all time. Decor in the guest house magnificient and has put a lot of thought into giving his guests the best ambiance and stay. Very reliable with all the arrangements that were requested . Would highly recommend this accommodation. Our friends Bill and Leonie who also stayed there at the same time endorse this review. Stu and Lily

Room Tip: We had the upstairs room and our friends downstairs both ver quiet with a lookout to the courtyard.

Our stay in South Africa's wine country could not have been better. The room we stayed in at Ashbourne House was upscale, georgeous, comfortable, and even had a heated bathroom floor. The cost by U.S. standards was a pleasant surprise. Russell the owner is a fabulous host whose recommendations on restaurants and activities were spot on. Franschhoek is becoming known as the gourmet restaurant capitol of South Africa. Between the vinyards and wine, great restaurants, and accomodations at Russell's B & B, it would be hard to say which we enjoyed the most.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Ashbourne House. Its a beautiful guesthouse that has been very thoughtfully designed so that each room feels like a little private suite and has a lovely combination of modern design and traditional comforts. Russell could not have been more helpful in suggesting lovely places to visit and to eat at in the surrounding Franschhoek area - most of them were as good as the delicious breakfasts at Ashbourne!

Ashbourne has it all. Great central location with a safe and easy walk to the centre of Franschoek. Stunning interiors that look straight off the pages of a design guide. Small and intimate with fantastic garden and pool. Our bedroom was large, spacious and well equipped. The largeg walk-in shower was a real delight as was the very large and comfortable bed. The breakfasts are incredible - yes with the seed bread as good as other reviewers have complimented.

It is within easy walking distance of many top vineyards and Sonia and I had a lovely walk in the sunny valley enjoying a few of them.

We arrived on a wet Easter Sunday when the town was very quiet. One thing you have to understand is that the lounge and dining area are locked up very early in the evening - not like hotels. John and Russell organised what I would say is one of the best meals I have enjoyed anywhere on the planet - in Le Bon Vivant. We feasted on tasing menus and supped on fantastic local wine - all for a very reasonable price. I have eaten in Michelin Star restaurants in Europe that were not as good as this!
