Reuben's was a very good meal with very good service. It was not the top top in Franschoek, but a memorable meal nonetheless. Lively atmosphere. (Note, trip was actually 2007; writing review late).

The blue cheese tart is good enough that no matter what you have for main it will dwarf it wrt flavour! It is my absolute best. One of the specials on this icy winters eve was beef Bourguignon and it was really good. Reuben is definitely worth his reputation as a Franschhoek classic.

We visited Reuben's back at the end of June and had a fabulous lunch. The atmosphere was warm, service friendly and food superb. A lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon!

We had a large table of friends for a birthday celebration, and the food was excellent all around. Great service and atmosphere. Wine list could be improved.

our waitress (not in training) was clueless as to the menu and general "round the table "manners...
kitchen staff acting louder than the restaurant and music itself (our music for the soul was "the plonking cutlery and many shouts")
food honestly average..... asked for rare...came overcooked.... onion rings were still quite raw and generally speaking...there was no....flavour. This is definitely not something you expect from a highly publicised restaurant. We do not expect the BEST.....not by any means, but a prestigious restaurant surely should prove itself to some degree. However, we decided to leave it and not complain as the whole experience was already quite disappointing.
We heard so much about Reuben;s and his culinary talents and we were sooo excited for lunch. Perhaps this was just a bad day.... but unfortunately..... we will not be going back. However, We hope all other guests walk out with happy tummies!
