“What a gem!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

What a lovely little place this is. My wife and I have had the opportunity to stay at many of the Western Capes hotels, b&b etc. and we both agreed that this was one of the most if not the best sleeps we have ever had away from home. The bed and bedding was so comfortable and then to top that off the shower was so nice I could have stayed in there for hours!

The little fridge in the room was perfect to put our cool drinks and chocolates, breakfast was homely what you would expect from a small b&b.

Overall a great little gem, perfect for a little break!

We found inconsistencies- it's rated a 4-star and we had 5-star elements as well as 3-star. Examples: We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite which had a coffee/tea station and a mini-fridge. Why serve Cremora powder when a jug of fresh milk in the fridge would have done the job? What about stocking the Honeymoon suite with a bottle of red and white wine (for purchase but at least it's on offer). It's the Honeymoon suite, for goodness sakes! You offer a full English breakfast- unappetizing when it's complemented with margarine served out of the green plastic tub it came in. Nice and a beautiful setting and value for money. But found inconsistencies.

We recently had a fantastic stay at this beautiful Guest House. The Rooms are set as private cottages that have absolutely stunning decor ! We stayed in the Luxury Suite overlooking the lavender field. The crackling fire was welcome in the room and added to the relaxing surrounds. We were warmly welcomed and staff were very friendly and accommodating. This is definately the place to be to relax and soak up in "me" time !

Room Tip: Ask for a Luxury Suite overlooking the Lavender !

Another fantastic experience at Lavender Farm. As always, the room was immaculate and luxuriously comfortable, the extreme attention to detail and perfection are ever present. Thanks to Don, the manager, for accommodating our late arrival with warmth and hospitality. Thanks also to Frauke for securing our booking efficiently and to the kitchen ladies and gardeners for their politeness and service! The atmosphere surrounding this place is relaxing, charming and exquisite. We will definitely be back for a third visit soon, our favourite place in Franschhoek!

Room Tip: Number 4 Lavender Suite, where we stayed this visit, is right near the little dam and close to the f...

Stayed at Lavender Farm B&B weekend of the 17/18 August. The booking process was handled efficiently by Frauke.

Warmly greeted by reception and shown to our rooms by Don, who manages the establishment. Had an 'entertaining' chat and were made to feel very welcome.

Had the luxury rooms (we were 2 couples), beautifully appointed, impeccably clean and comfortable. No view to speak of (view only at the row of Honeymoon suites), but it didn't matter much. Inclement weather meant we couldn't really enjoy the pool or patios during our stay.

Sleep quality was very good. Had dinner in town at French Connection, which was great.

Breakfast was good and sufficient, including fruit salad, yoghurt, (poached) eggs, fruit juices. Friendly service!

Would have liked to have stayed a second night but time didn't permit. Would definitely like to revisit Lavender Farm and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Proximity to town is sufficient (we drove, approx 1km?), yet far enough to be quiet and peaceful. Thank you!

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 10 and 11.

Franschhoek is a lovely lovely town. Very relaxing, even our 2 year old was in his zone :) Had a very cosy stay at this guesthouse's suite, which was squeaky clean. Good view and a private patio. Planning another trip already!

Stayed at the Lavender farm guest house, it was upsetting that the tv in the honeymoon room was not working! We asked for it to be fixed but they said they cannot without the owner being there. Staff should know how to assist without the owner.
Secondly, they said they cannot recommend anything for us to do as the owner was not there. Let down...
My stay was just average. No difference between a normal room and a honeymoon room!
