“Comfortable B and B in Scenic Farm Setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2010

We stayed in the two bedroom cottage next to the main house, facing vineyards. It's a mile or so out of town, in the valley with great 360 views of the surrounding mountains. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and a great value. Not fancy. Breakfast was generous. Franschoek is spectacular, with many great restaurants and wineries to chose from. We suggest wine tasting at Mont Rochelle, and dinner at Ryan's Kitchen. Ryan is former chief at Mange Tout, and his small new restaurant has a demonstration kitchen and wonderful food and wine, with his darling wife serving as hostess. For a more upscale place to stay, Mont Rochelle has a wonderful location halfway up a mountain.

We have just returned form a wonderful 5 day stay at Auberge la Dauphine at the start of our South Africa holiday and cannot recommend it highly enough. Anne and Dan are extremely welcoming hosts and happy to share information and advice about where top eat/what to do/how to get there....The rooms are extremely comfortable, the views are stunning and the giraffe in the vineyard bizarrely charming! Breakfasts are very good and their own wine is also extremely drinkable. Cannot think that anything could be bettered elsewhere - including more expensive establishments. Would definitely recommend.

Staying at Auberge La Dauphine was an excellent choice. Firstly the location is perfect just outside the village for piece and quiet and just close enough to walk into for shopping and eating out.
The view were stunning, the surrounding areas are well kept and beautiful.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast provided was very nice and offered a range or choices.

The rooms were lovely, big and spacious with lots of light.
Overall an amazing holiday!

One night was not enough! Auberge La Dauphine is beautifully located just outside Franschhoek village and has magnificent views of the mountains. My room (the Beaujolais) had a four poster bed with a lovely lounge upstairs and views of the spectacular scenery . Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who made me feel very welcome and special. In the morning I was woken for a great breakfast by Appels the rescue donkey. I'm definatly coming back!

It was very nice to stay. A calm city with bars, restaurants and all you will need in great comfort. Nice places to visit: mountains, the sea, the whales, the wine cellars. Table mountain and Cape Town.
You will enjoy it and dream of when you come back:-)

I stayed at Auberge for 1 night during the Bastille Festival weekend and it was just beautiful! The accommodation was warm, clean and cozy (just superb!) the hosts were super friendly and warm and I just loved all the rescued animals on the property as well as the quiet little dam just a short walk from the rooms...

I am definitely going back to this B&B the next time I visit Franschoek!

Franschhoek boasts that it is the wine and culinary capital of South Africa. After a 4 day stay with my wife and 2 college age daughters, I would strongly agree, but you should also know that it is a beautiful place to experience. We found a great way to take advantage of the abundant wine, food, and scenary, we based our travels at Auberge La Dauphine.

The Auberge is just outside (5 minute drive) of Franschhoekk, with lovely views of the mountains that ring the sides of the valley. I enjoyed watching the clouds swirl around the moutain tops in the morning and reflect the sunset in the evening. We started each day with a hearty, complimentary cooked breakfast by the friendly kitchen staff. Ronel was always helpful in providing us with wise suggestions for sightseeing, wine tasting, and restaurant plans.

We stayed in the family suite, with a master bedroom and a loft for the girls. Lots of room, comfortable beds, and lovely furnishings. The only possible downside is the lack of free internet. The pool and gardens around the main house are beautiful even in winter. My wife and I enjoyed walking the vineyard, gardens, and the reservoir to build up an appetite before dinner. Ann and Dan, the owners, were on hand to make sure that we were well looked after, but it was also interesting to talk to them about the days events or doings at the Auberge.

One more note, all the South Africans we met were friendly and helpful. They really want you to enjoy their country. Our family voted unanimously that we would love to come back to Franschhoek and stay at the Augerge La Dauphine.
