Stayed for 1 night on our drive through the wine route and pleased we stopped here. Room was on two levels with the bed upstairs, very spacious and clean with everything we needed. The house and grounds are lovely with a pool and lawn to relax by and a small lake with a little covered deck where it was also nice to sit and drink. The lady there was really helpful, advising us on where to go, organising a car for dinner and letting us use the bikes and pool during the next day after we had checked out. The breakfast left my tummy very satisfied too, would stay here again if visiting Franschhoek.

Firstly can I say that when using trip advisor to check out places to stay I always read at least the first five pages of the most recent reviews. I also read the other reviews of anyone who has had an issue or problem (just to get a feel of whether they are habitual complainers, for whom nothing is ever nice enough).
After reading the reviews of Auberge I decided that the majority of people had nothing but compliments. so went ahead and booked.............. and how right they were!
Simply beautiful surroundings, friendly and accommodating staff, even the curmudgeonly owner (that reviewer did make me laugh) must have been having a good week as he was charming!
All in all I would highly recommend Auberge. we had a very pleasant, welcoming, relaxing pre-christmas break.

Spent 2 nights here while driving the Garden Route. We had a most wonderful room which was accessed outside the guest house and up a flight of stairs. In the country but within easy walking distance of Franschhoek. An abundance of first rate restaurants in Franschhoek and great wine. Apologies to Ronel who looked after us so well for taking so long to post this review!

Situated just outside from the main stretch of Franschoek- 10 mins walk or you can hire the bikes available. Stunning scenery, comfortable, clean and luxurious cottages that you will feel immediately comfortable in. Ronel was incredibly welcoming and helpful, knew where to go and good advice for our very short stay. Our only regret was not staying more than 1 night- this is a place to relax, take in the scenery and vibe of this amazing place and watch the stars come out at night whilst sipping a carefully chosen (after plenty if wine tastings!) bottle of locally made wine! Enjoy this place!

We have visited Auberge la Dauphine on several occasions to escape the UK winter weather. Another visit is about to happen very shortly.
Can't wait to see the smiling faces and receive wonderful care and attention. This applies to the whole of Franschhoek as well.
Good food and wine in abundance, and, of course, SUNSHINE.
Do give this place a try. You will want to return.

From the minute we arrived here we had a lovely stay. Ronel met us and showed us to our rooms (we were 3 couples) which were in the original part of the building, so lots of interesting character features and shapes of doors and huge windows looking out onto the most amazing scenery!! Ronel recommended a restaurant for us and suggested a few things we could do for the couple of days we were there. We ate the most fantastic food at the le Bon Vivant. We didn't take advantage of the 'degustation' but ate almost as much! The food is nouvelle cuisine style, but plenty of it and such value for money. We had unbelievably good quality food, three courses, wine and coffee at less than £25 a head, quite a lot for South Africa, but it was truly fine dining and a meal that would have set you back nearly £100 a head in London.

All three rooms were big and beautifully decorated with quite lavish furniture, a mixture of french and colonial style. There was plenty of hot water, the wifi worked, and we had a safe in the room. There was a bottle of red or white wine to buy and free tea and coffee facilities with fresh milk. The breakfast was delicious with choice of cereals and cooked eggs, bacon, etc etc. The gardens were lovely, and big. There was a variety of seating everywhere, in the garden, outside the rooms, by the dam, by the pool, just stunning - a lot of work by Dan and Anne has gone into making the whole area be a welcoming experience.

The accommodation is a few minutes on the edge of the town - we had our own transport so didn't give us a problem.

Franschhoek itself is a lovely town and like a lot of places we visited along the Garden Route a mixture of old colonial and newer properties. We spent most of our time there on an escorted wine tour - for us it was better than deciding which vineyard to visit and where to eat etc etc! We did wine tasting at Chamonix and Grand Provence and then cheese and wine tasting at the Bellingham. We also had a fun half hour with Jermaine seeing (and tasting) how chocolate was made, before being driven back. Denver was very knowledgeable about the whole process of growing the vines and making wine - although probably a little more expensive that doing it all on our own or taking the tram, we had a fun day and someone else made the decisions for us!

I wish we had had longer to stay in Franschhoek and at the Auberge La Dauphine in particular.
