“Great location, great food”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

This was my Father's Day treat with the family. The view from all the tables are spectacular. It overlooks the Franschhoek Valley and on a great day like we had, you can see for miles. There is a limited choice of sitting outside, but if you are indoors the majority of large windows open up to give you a feeling of being outside. Small but great menu for both adults and kids. The food was fantastic as was the service. Nice selection of local wines and cheese to finish of the meal. A place you must book at as it is very popular. If you are having lunch, keep the rest of the afternoon open as it is a great place to just sit and take in the view over a glass or two of wine.

Combined 1100am tour and tasting with lunch afterwards.
Personal informative and very honest tour by owner.
Real family business and a lot to be proud of.
Everything flowed beautifully.
No hard sell over wines compared to other larger wineries.
Staff very helpful and lunch excellent.

We spent 2 nights in la petite ferme and rented a lakeside lodge.
The kitchen was fully equiped.
The view on the valley is really nice.
The breakfast was perfect, scambled eggs with salmon, home made cream cheese and muesli.
We also wade a cellar tour and a wine testing with the owner of la petite ferme. He had a very romantic and passionate vision of the wine. We had a very food time.

I have come here year after year for some or other special event, I adore their fresh salads from vegetable grown on the estate, I love the wine tour and donation bottle of their best Cabernet Sauvignon last time, then the dilemma of having to choose what to eat, as there are so many choices which one just cannot resist, be it duck, lamb, ostrich, etc.
The calming views and light energy of the open dining terrace is most enchanting, with the sweeping horizon across from the verdant valley.
Sitting afterwards on the garden benches finishing the wine and letting the meal settle is my favourite part, I just love this place.

I really like Franschhoek, the vineyards, the scenery, the wine, the restaurants, the lodges....
That is why we keep on returning, however we have yet to find a place that really satisfies me. The Petite Ferme website made me think we would be right in the middle of the vineyards and you could strole around in them. This was not really the case, it just seemed to be too far away from the real winery atmosphere.
The apartments we had were nice enough for a family of 4, the water in front of the rooms added to the ambiance and there is a great view of the valley.
We were not really in the vineyards though and across the road from the main house. We loved our 24 hours in Franschhoek but were looking for more from the Petite Ferme. The apartments are nice with a few seperate rooms, so good for a family and the breakfast we had there was fair enough. The service is ok as well without being overwhelming.
La Petite Ferme will appeal to families ( rooms across the road) main house rooms look good for discerning couples.

This place was recommended by friends of Australia. Really pleased we went. Nice and quiet. Wine tasting was good and educational with lots of questions. Wild life was fun have the the baboons around us and we being in the cage,so to speak! Staff were excellent and helpful to all problems sorted. Pleasant township. Two Aussies x

We had lunch at the Petit Ferme and also stayed in one of the lodges (across the road from the main part of the building) and both were excellent. The food was very good, but the views while you eat are unbelieveable .

We had wanted to stay in the main building but due to availability we couldn't do we decided to stay in one of the lodges and to be honest glad we did, the lodges are very spacious the one we had, had 2 rooms plus living room and open plan kitchen and also a nice balcony to sit out on.

Definitely a place to visit either just for lunch, or even better stay the night would recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the lodges that aren't connected to the main hotel, but these are very good...
