“Lovely, just lovely...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2012

We got married here five years ago and were lucky enough to be able to come back for our fifth anniversary. Having some wonderful memories of the place we were keen to see what had changed and what was the same. The welcome was as warm, the view just as achingly lovely, and the food and wine just as delicious and well presented. This time we stayed in the Library Room in the Manor House (still a private dwelling when we last came). It is beautiful: huge, airy, and elegantly decorated. In the restaurant, the slow-cooked lamb is highly recommended, as is the fillet steak, both of which were cooked to perfection. The owner, Mark Dendy Young is a visible presence, taking an interest in the well being of guests and diners. The winery tour is excellent, with founder John Dendy Young an informative and entertaining host. Altogether a wonderful few days...

In a land of billionaire wine-makers, La Petite Ferme is a breath of fresh air. Don't get me wrong, I like new world wine, but the personal touch of getting a cellar tour by the man who started the winery and still picks grapes every season was a nice touch.

We (2 couples) stayed in a fantastic, 2-story villa with our own swimming pool and a stunning view of the surrounding hills and our own personal vineyard. Night and day better than a hotel in my opinion. Unfortunately we only had a couple nights there, but I was ready to move in... Food at the main building was quite good and the staff, what little we saw of them, were very helpful. Keep in mind that they don't do dinner there, so make dinner reservations (they can help with this I'm sure).

Room Tip: Definitely stay in one of the villas - they're all a little ways drive through the vineyards but...

I stayed in room 5 at La Petit Ferme with my husband for two nights. The room was spacious and comfy and we loved the little touches like the sprigs of lavender with our towels. The spectacular view over the valley and the amazing location makes this a hidden gem. It's the perfect spot to stay while exploring the wine farms by day and sampling Franchoeks amazing restaurants by night. (Le quatier francais tasting room is a must).
We had a lovey family lunch at La Petit Ferme too for a group of 12 and despite the large number in the group- the food was superb.
We'll be back- its a perfect spot to totally unwind.

We spent two nights in the Provencal Suite and loved it! The cottage is fantastic with a very nicely sized room/lounge (comfy bed) and en suite bathroom, all tastefully decorated and clean. Outside there is a veranda and terrace with your own plunge pool. And then there is the view! The vineyard comes right up to your terrace and you look out over the whole farm as well as the Franschhoek valley below. We barely moved, choosing rather to sip La Petite Ferme wine while overlooking the vineyards that made them and the sun setting into the surrounding mountains - breathtaking! The restaurant is also fantastic and we had a very enjoyable breakfast and lunch there. I would definitely return - if only to gaze out at that view!

Room Tip: We loved the Provencal room but I'm sure the others are great too

This bed and breakfast is situated in a fantastic place overlooking the beautiful Franschoek valley. Our room was enormous and had a view overlooking the 'house' vineyard. The bathroom was enormous with a bathtub that overlooked the spectacular view described here! We were very well looked after. The breakfasts were excellent. It's only a shame they don't do dinner as we would have stayed all day!!

This was our second visit having last stayed here is 2005, we were not disappointed the accomodation was lovely. We only stayed one night, we began with a tour of the cellar and a wine tasting with John , the owner, who is a fabulously interesting and genuine guy. There were three couples on the tour and we had such a lovely time tasting the wine and chatting we all had lunch together afterwards. The lunch menu was terrific - can recommend the lamb. We stayed in a suite the rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, although a few finishes need attention or updating. The best feature by far is the view from the patio of the mountains and vines just stunning.

Room Tip: The restaurant isn't open at night so we ordered a cheese platter which we kept in the fridge an...

We've been visiting this place for years for lunch and decided to try their accommodation over the nearby Grand Roche hotel. We booked the 'Vista' suite for 3 nights. Arriving straight from the airport, we had lunch and got to the room at about 3pm. It is a stand alone villa - with a large covered veranda and plunge pool, with the most amazing views across the vineyards, down the valley withthe majestic backdrop of the mountains - stunning. The room is large with a comfy bed, acouple of easy chairs, little table, fridge stocked with the Estates own wine, water and milk. Kettle, tea, coffee etc. There's an old TV in a cupboard with dvd player. The excellent bathroom has twin basins, a huge free standing tub and a walk-in shower. Contrary to an earlier review, the room and bathroom were immaculately clean and decor in perfect shape. We had the breakfast on the last day - nice choice of cooked and very tasty, with help yourself areas for tea/coffee, juices, croisants etc.We cannot praise this place highly enough. It's not a hotel - it's a b&b, and the best I've ever been to. We will return in a couple of years and there is no question at all that we will stay at La Petite Ferme. Outstanding.

Room Tip: Vista suite was very private
