We booked for 3 nights as part of a 15 night round South Africa tour.
We arrived on the hottest day of the stay, and I have to say that had we only been staying for 1 night, we would never have recommended the hotel to anyone. Our arrival was around 5pm, we rang the door bell and were met at the door by one of the staff, who said - who are you ? Surely if you are expecting 4 people for a 3 night stay you would have some idea that this may be them ??
However, shown to our rooms - the room downstairs with private pool and our room which was upstairs with the jacuzzi on the deck. It was 40 degrees plus - and we baked ! With a little forethought to put the air conditioning on in advance of our arrival would have made a big difference to the welcome. Anyway, we got over the heat by going out and leaving the AC on which made a big difference to our return and sleep at night.
Apart from this little hic up - can only recomend the breakfast highly. The morning staff were delightful - the ambience of the house, and the wonderful cats who own it ( we never did meet the owners ) and the rooms did meet our expectations, plus the proximity to the main street of Franschoek were excellent. Certainly a much better choice to Stellenbosch where we have stayed before, which I understand is not very commercialised and spoilt.
Would stay there again.

Room Tip: The room with the Jacuzzi is the best with fabulous views over the valley.

It was my 4th time at Klein Oliphants Hoek, and definately not my last. I LOVE the beautiful house, the friendly staff, the garden and the breathtaking view over the mountains. The location is also one of the best in Franchhoek. Who could ask for more. I can REALLY recommend the place.

We stayed just 1 night to celebrate our anniversary and had a generally good experience. The guesthouse is just 2 blocks back from the main road with great access to the shops and restaurants. We enjoyed being able to walk back from our restaurant without worrying about parking and how much wine we were enjoying with our meal!

The grounds are beautiful and sitting on the stoep, taking in the view is a 'must' when you stay at this guesthouse. The rooms all have access to a central lounge area which is comfy and beautifully decorated. I imagine we would have made more use of it if it had been winter. Other facilities include a small pool which is great during the hot summer months.

We stayed in Room 2 - a courtyard room. It was tastefully furnished, lacking nothing but for the price I found it quite small. As it was summer we could also make use of the courtyard so that helped otherwise I might have felt a bit claustrophobic. The bathroom perfectly serviceable but nothing spectacular.

We had a problem with our TV which took a while to fix so we effectively didn't have use of it because it was a 1 night stay. Although I understand that things go wrong sometimes, it is a bit surprising that facilities are not checked before handing them over - especially considering the room rate. We received an apology, but no other gestures - maybe a complimentary choccie or cocktail...?

Staff are helpful and friendly and we enjoyed our stay although I would probably be tempted to try another guesthouse when we next go back to Franschoek.

This little lovely B&B was discovered by us a few years ago and we loved it so much we came back this year. This is the kind of place where you will feel at home right away; it's lobby or living room, the restaurant, the lovely terrace/veranda and the beautiful rooms (we had Room 3 upstairs). The cats Micky and Bella also amount to that homely feeling!
From Room 3 you can hear the small fountain in front of the residence as well as the wind blowing though the trees.. you will feel perfectly Zen right away! ;-)
And then of course there are the many great restaurants, just literally around the corner..what more do you need?

I don't have a bad word to say about The Residence Klein Olphant's Guesthouse. My partner and I stayed here from 30th Dec '13 to 2nd Jan '14 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The welcome we received was wonderfully friendly, the house itself is absolutely beautiful with a stunning lavender garden over which the sun sets and a comfortable pool area to relax by in the afternoon after a busy day of wine tasting around Franschhoek.

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and are more than happy to make recommendations (and reservations) for restaurants and activities.

We stayed in one of their Comfort rooms, which was beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable and a great place to call home for a few nights.

Breakfast on the veranda at the back of the house every morning was lovely and a pleasure every day. Not to mention delicious and made all the better because the people working there were so fantastic.

The location of the guest house is perfect, just two streets back from Franschhoek's main road, which means that you really get to enjoy the town.

Now, to get saving and come back again very soon!

This spacious, charming residence in the heart of Franschhoek was a great pied-à-terre for our two day visit. Our room, on the second floor, was luminous, clean and comfortable, with all the amenities. The staff was very helpful, reserving tables for us at restaurants in the evening. The breakfast was excellent and the breakfast room/terrace looks out over a picturesque garden and the mountains surrounding the village. It was easy to find and a very short walk to the main street. Parking was provided right in front of the hotel. We would not hesitate to book here again, if ever we return to the Cape and the winelands.

Selected this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and it lived up to the high ratings. It is a charming two story hotel/B&B only two blocks away from the main road, R45, in a quiet location with parking right in front. The two house cats are in charge of greeting guests and they do an excellent job. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Excellent restaurants are within walking distance and many wineries are within a short drive up and down the valley.
Breakfast is served in a comfortable dining room with a large outside garden adjoining. The food was excellent with cooked to order eggs and sides.
There is also a large common area with comfortable sofas and chairs.
We had two rooms, both upstairs. One was a cozy attic room and the other had an outdoor terrace with a spa. An excellent place to sample the day's wine exploration.
Franschhoeck is a place worth staying several days and the Klein Olphants would make an excellent base.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to the upstairs room with the outdoor patio.
