“Good food and good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

We went to the Franschhoek Motor Museum with my husband's brother, sister-in-law and their son who are visiting from New Zealand. We arrived in town quite famished. The quaintness of Taki's caught our eye! We were settled in at a table in the back garden which was nice an d spacious. The drinks came swiftly and the menu offered some great options. The meals varied - pizza, smoked chicken salad, chicken strips and bobotie. All very well presented and garnished and within a reasonable time frame. Generous helpings...I personally could never have finished my chicken strips...everyone had a taste. The bill was also very reasonable, so if you are looking for good food and value...Taki's Place is it :)

“Delicious Local Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

After touring wineries, we strolled through the charming town of Franschhoek, which reminds us of charming towns in Napa Valley, California, like St. Helena. We read menus and chose Taki's because of a daily special, "bobotie," a South African specialty. It was delicious, similar to shepherd's pie, with Indian spices, and a custard-like topping. The menu was extensive, including Wiener schnitzel with a Parmesan cream sauce and pizzas. Prices were very reasonable.

“An unexpected surprise”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

Arrived quite late into Franschhoek and stumbled across a rather unassuming pub/restaurant. The menu was not extensive and so the vegetarian choices were minimal. We ordered a vegetarian Greek platter and a veggie pizza. Both meals were super. The pizza was more like a pizza pie and the platter was packed full of goodies. Both meals were flavoursome and substantial. However, the wine list was poor and way too expensive. For example a bottle of porcupine ridge which costs R40 in the supermarket was being sold for R150. Now, most locals know that this wine is pretty average and to charge over 3 times the supermarket price is taking the Mickey! Anyway, good job with the food.
