A good, fun way to visit the wine estates of Franschoek. In particular, we enjoyed Rickety Bridge where we received a warm welcome and tasted some great wines in a pleasant setting. The tour was well organised in terms of connections between tram, train and tractors! Good value for money.

This is a great idea for those who wish to make the most of their trip to the winelands by tasting many of the remarkable wines Franschhoek has to offer. As a non wine drinker, accompanying a wine drinker, this trip was a fun way to see the vineyards and the stunning scenery. First the little wine bus took us up to the museum, then to a couple of wine estates which had beautiful views and delicious food. Later, we caught the wine tram which took us across the vineyards, and then jumped on tractor pulled carts to get to the next couple of wine tasting estates. We liked the variety of modes of transport offered, the scenery, the restaurants, and of course, the wines (some of which were complimentary with the wine tram ticket ... My wife benefited from having my wine allocation and ended the trip rather merry).

It should also be noted that the wine tram staff are very friendly, enthusiastic and kind. All round a very enjoyable day out.

We recently took the 'tram' with friends from outside western cape. The website should definitely make it clearer that starting with the 2pm ride will not leave you enough time to finish any of your tastings, and you wont be able to make your complimentary wine at the final farm. We were transported on buses and only spent 15mins at the end of the day on the tram. We could not finish our tastings at any of the farms and were left on a farm and had to call them to come and fetch us. We arrived at rickety bridge which was the only place we could stay an hr - but there were no snacks or food available as the bus arrived after the restaurant closed. They sell loads of lovely preserves but refused to sell us some crackers or bread to enjoy these with.

I really really dont see what we paid R175pp for as we had to rush the tastings and the farms visited are VERY close together we could definitely just have taken our own car and had more time to enjoy the farms and views. We were under the impression that there would be scenic drives on the tram between farms... but the tram only took us back to our cars by which time we were so miserable from being rushed around. Maybe this works better if one starts in the morning, but this should then be made clear.

We were very disappointed and would certainly recommend rather visiting the farms on your own steam and spending time at each venue as they are beautiful.

However, the staff were all friendly so no complaints there.

We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with you experience. We will make it clearer on our website that a morning departure is recommended for passengers wanting to experience all 5 wine estates on the tour and the complimentary offerings. Thank you for the feedback.

Four of us took the 10am tram which allowed us plenty of time to visit all the vineyards we wished to see, and to have a delicious lunch at Paulina's at 1:30pm (the time we booked). We unfortunately did not go to Grand Provence since we wanted to fit in shopping that afternoon and that was the only time we had to do so. The tram and train were great; the 1950's dodge truck that picked us up at Rickety Bridge was fun (preparing us for what our game drive will be like in a few days with the bumpy ride and also the two baboons we saw on the mountain behind RB). All in all a splendid idea and would do it again... especially since they are adding more wineries in the future as well. Only negative... The volume on the recorded announcements on the vehicles were not loud enough to hear well at all... Especially the train portion. Besides that, it was very cozy with the supplied lap blankets on a cool and misty day. Doing a tasting at the first four wineries meant 20 wines tasted in all which two of us did, while the other two did a little less. Definitely there were some winners there that we will purchase in the future. Between the website, the drivers, and even the tickets, it was very clear which places were complimentary and which were not. A great day! We all enjoyed it!

Well organised, service-oriented, polite and concerned operation. A boon to and a must-do Franschhoek experience. Had a great day.
