Owner description: Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards. Ticket prices: R170 - R220

If you want to see a Beautiful town and its surrounds do the tour, although all are beautiful Dieu Donne and Rickety Bridge have stunning views with the added benefit wine tasting which was great. A tip is to go early so you dont have to rush and you can spend more time at the estates you like. The ride on the old truck was lovely and the driver quite humorous. The only negative was that our first two rides on the bus we were not given much information and wandered around a little aimlessly, also the person who sold us the tickets did not give us much information. However the tram ride was amazing and they played a recording which gave us more direction.
I would definitely recommend this.

Brilliant brilliant brilliant. in UK pounds this was a seriously cheap day. it cost about £12 for this you start out on a open sided bus which travels a route around some of the wine farms surrounding Franschhoek. It dropped us at the Huguenot Museum, which was really interesting. We were then collected 40 minutes later..from there we went to the Haute Cabriere Wine farm, which was truely stunning. We did a wine tasting whilst looking over the valley, we had to pay for this but it was less than a tenner and we got to chose 4 wines to taste. 40 minutes later we were collected and taken to the next wine farm which was Dieu Donne, here the tasting was included in the price of the tour. Again we could choose from 4 wines. We decided to stay an extra 40 minutes and have lunch at the restuarant known as Roca. Stunning views and stunning food and service. once we were collected we decided to not get off at the next wine farm which was Chamonix. The bus took us to a tram stop where we got on a really cool tram which took us to the wine farm "Rickety Bridge" where again the tasting was included in the tour price of £12. There is a restaurant here too, I am going to try it next time as it came with great reviews. By now it was 3pm and we were feeling quite squiffy, so we got back on the tram and made our way back to the B&B but we could have gone to the last winery and had a free glass of wine.
Please please if you are going to Franschhoek set a day to one side to do this amazing tour that is serious value for money

This was a lot of fun and a great way to visit the Wine Estates! Rickety Bridge, Dieu Donne, Grande Provence were our favorites. We got some great pictures of the vinyards and the scenery around Franshhoek.

If you want to taste great wine, relax without having to drive yourself, then take the tram/bus and visit great wine farms. To relax and hop-on hop-of at your own pace makes this a very enjoyable experience. Some places have tasty cheese platters on offer with the wine tasting and some farms have great little restaurants with great food. A highly recommended outing
