Could someone please explain why a monument to those escaping religious persecution was locked on a Sunday morning? Disappointing to sat the least.

Interesting and homely, gave an insight into the lives of the early settlers, found the time you got with the wine tram was just about right to see the exhibits

Very imposing monument with description of Hugenot's immigration and surrounded by well kept formal gardens. Nearby garden of "native plants" is great..... large numbers of various protas and other flowers, bushes and trees.

The beautiful, well-kept gardens surrounding the famous Huguenot memorial are a great place to spend leisure time if you are in the Franschhoek area. This striking monument is dedicated to the cultural impact made by the French Huguenots in the 17th and 18th centuries, and is well worth a visit. The entrance fee is very reasonable, but note that this does not include the fee for the museum, which is located beside the monument grounds. Be sure to bring along the camera to get some shots of the monument itself, as well as the stunning flowers.

very interesting monument with some fascinating symbolism which depicts the ideology of the Huguenots. Very tranquil place and on a lovely sunny day, perfect to wander around and contemplate the lives of these early pioneers.
