I stayed here for a romantic getaway with my husband in September. We stayed in an Auberge room – which was huge with a massive bed, seating area and fantastic bathroom. I enjoyed the little thoughtful touches in the room, like homemade fruit cordial, a selection of magazines and books, and world music CDs. Service overall was impeccable and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Our room had its own private patio area and the front door opened onto the pool garden. I loved the whole atmosphere of the place – modern and elegant rooms, but with a country charm to the grounds. Another thing that’s brilliant is the location – you literally walk out of the front (restaurant) area on the the main road of Franschoek.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Le Quartier Français. We are delighted to hear that you had such a fabulous romantic getaway. We put a huge amount of effort into our individually decorated rooms and the small unique touches that we believe make it a more personal experience for you, the guest.

As you mentioned our location really is brilliant. It offers us the opportunity to create a country escape set in the heart of a small village; and this means that our guests can easily access - on foot - a lot of Franschhoek's major attractions.

We hope to see you, and your husband, for another romantic getaway soon!

You are comfortable and looked after from the moment you arrive at Le Quartier Francais. Every detail is considered, and there are plenty of delightful surprises to make your stay memorable.
Every time we visit there seems to be something new or different, and because of this the staff all seem engaged and passionate about where they work and what they do.

Must do: get a massage at the treatment room & eat at any of their restaurants.

Le Quartier Francais is a beautiful little hotel in Franschoek, South Africa's 'wine country.' I stayed for just two nights with my parents and sisters (16 and 21) during the Christmas holiday. We had two separate houses of equivalent size, though the decoration differed slightly between them (but still nice at both). Guests can borrow from the wide selection of films in the lobby; le quartier definitely has a family feel in the best possible way.

The food and wine were, as expected with its reputation, delicious. The rooms were what I would call quaint, though to be fair Franschoek isn't exactly luxury capital of S Africa. The pool was very small, maybe more for tanning around than actual swimming. The little shop behind the restaurant was very nice and not too overpriced.

I also had a full body and a foot massage before leaving and the masseuse was very capable and was clearly very well trained/educated. The 'spa' itself was very simple, even basic. It was just a room in building across from the 'lobby' area. The massages were inexpensive, though, and very good, so I didn't mind the less-than-idyllic surroundings. Would happily stay again at le Quartier Francais.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Le Quartier Français. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the food and wine aspect of your visit. It is a significant portion of our offering and we try create something incredibly special and memorable for each guest.

Our rooms are all individually decorated and in each we aim to marry exceptional comfort and functionality with amazing fabrics and the finest locally produced luxury amenities.

We offer a Treatment Room rather than a full spa. It is small but we have found that our well-trained therapists add that little something extra to a guests stay.

We hope that you and your family will visit us, at Le Quartier Français, for another stay soon.

Lovely rooms with in room fireplaces and heated floors. Updates were recent and amenities were nice. Onsite spa is available, but limited (one therapist), lots of DVD's available for cool nights by the fire, restaurant was very good. some very unique items in the tasting menu (9 course) and the wines were paired perfectly. I found the breakfast lacking slightly since it appeared there was more interest in presentation than a real morning meal but good none the less. Staff was all friendly and helpful and overall a very nice experience.

Thank you for your review.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the rooms, your meal in our award-winning fine dining restaurant - The Tasting Room - and our friendly and helpful staff. We work incredibly hard on our offering, constantly refining and reworking all elements, so it's great to hear when it all comes together to create an enjoyable stay for a guest.

Our on site spa was designed to serve as a small treatment room, something to add a little bit of pampering to a guest's stay. It's definitely not the whole spa experience. Instead going the spa-route we decided to focus our experience efforts on the more usual including: an in house Culinary Concierge who designs bespoke food-related adventures for guests, all perfectly tailored to their individual tastes; an in house art gallery which showcases a range of exceptional South African artist only exhibitions; an in house Screening Room which shows an excellent selection of old and new movies throughout the month.

We are sorry to hear that your breakfast wasn't everything you'd hoped it would. While we do place a great emphasis on presentation it is never more important than taste.

We hope to welcome you back, for another stay, in the not too distant future.

In a small town where every other property seems to be either a restaurant or accommodation this stands out like a beacon. Not that it physically stands out, it is discreet almost to the point of invisibility, but for comfort, service and luxury nothing else comes close. In the form of several "cottages" surrounding the central swimming pool each room is unique, but all are beautifully appointed with good beds, individual furnishings and that little extra style. The bathroom in our suite was terrific, marble floor with underfloor heating (what a joy!), large walk-in shower, full size bath and I wouldn't say the sink was huge, but I've seen smaller baths! Nothing was too much trouble for the constantly smiling staff. Breakfast was excellent and wins my personal prize for the best ever presentation.

My wife and I spent one night at Le Quartier Francais and loved every minute of it. Our petit garden suite was an absolute haven of luxury, the room was spacious with private patio to our own "oasis" of tranquillity in the garden. Our room came standard with fireplace, under floor heating and spacious en-suite bathroom with beautiful finishes. The extensive DVD library at the hotel provided a wide choice for the afternoon movie that we watched in the room on the in-room DVD player with the fireplace lit as we snuggled in bed.

Dinner that night in the Tasting Room was far beyond my expectations. After having read and heard of all the wonderful reviews, I had to see what all the fuss was about and all I can say is the "Surprise Menu" is an absolute must. Each dish in the 9 course menu was beautifully prepared and crafted by Margot Janse and her exceptional team in the kitchen. The African inspired menu "with story" to go showed me why Margot and her team have won so many awards and why this restaurant has the reputation it carries. Our waiters were incredibly knowledgeable clearly explaining every ingredient in every dish whilst the wine pairing was superbly matched and complimented each dish to perfection.

To end off the perfect night of relaxation and decadence what more could you ask for than a lit fire in your room and a hot water bottle in your bed.

Breakfast the next day was no half hearted affair either. The delectable spread of breakfast pastries, fruit and cereals together with hot breakfast and ample fresh coffee was enought o keep us going for the rest of the day.

The perfect end to a wonderful stay.

Thanks to Susan and the exceptional team at LQF for a night never to forget.
